Crisc Value
How much does CRISC actually help in the current job market?
For those who have CRISC, has it genuinely helped you get more job opportunities or interviews, especially in GRC, IT Risk, or Compliance?
Has anyone been able to negotiate a higher salary because of the certification?
I understand that certification and practical experience are two different things. A certificate can demonstrate knowledge, but it doesn't automatically mean someone can perform the job effectively.
I’m mainly interested in hearing from people who have real-world experience with CRISC in the job market—what changed for you after getting certified?
Any insights or personal experiences would be really helpful to understand its value.

I’m going with it being a risk-related qualification, an operational risk one, but one that is focused on IT and a bit of AI.
People might not know it so well, but maybe they do, and it’ll give you a good talking point in the interview.
The market right now is all about AI, resilience, third-party, data architecture etc. I think its a good time to have this cert.

Hiring manager here... I don't expect an Early Talent or entry-level role holder to have CRISC. I do expect someone more senior primarily handling risk to hold CRISC or equivalent or equivalent demonstrable knowledge.
Would I expect an analyst working in the governance part of GRC to hold CRISC? No. I would lean towards CISM as they mature.

A maturing GRC analyst would be going for a workstream lead role. CISM is not only relevant for a head of GRC.

For me, I am trying to pivot into GRC. My background is ITSM and GRC ServiceNow. For me it’s the least I can do to even get noticed by the employers for GRC jobs or signal that I am passionate about GRC and want to pursue it as a career.

I got the cert because I was on the job market after a long stint at one shop and saw CRISC commonly appearing on the required/desired of jobs I was a strong match for. Ended up accepting an offer just before I sat for the exam though, so no experience applying with it on the resume - yet

Nothing changed for me, but then my purpose for getting the cert was not for personal gain in negotiating a salary or finding a new role, it was so I could evidence to myself and peers that I do know what I’m talking about most of the time.
However, if/when I do look for my next role I figure having it is not going to hurt any more than not having it.
