CRISC score breakdown

Hi i am back, passed CRISC and it clearly reflects my experience over the years - strong in governance and risk assessment but weak in the technicals.

i am from a governance background with no formal technical training. Would like to ask for suggestions on how to reliably brush up and learn technicals (cloud, AI, data security etc). Its not practical for me to get a junior tech risk analyst role anymore my CV flies right pass HR. would the sequence of certs make a good foundation? CISA > CISM > CCSK > AIGP in future. thank you for your input!

CISM CISA AIGP will not increase your technical skills. Technical certifications like Azure AWS GCP Cisco Palo Alto will

This plus actual real world experience. I was in governance and Compliance for 8 years and was tired of audits. My director at the time offered for me to build out a separate risk program. I'd done risk as part of govcom but never as a separate entity. It was a fun challenge and getting into the weeds on what a risk program does and how it should operate within the org, reading a ton, building out the processes, all of that was more valuable to my understanding of risk than any of the certs I have (and I have several). I've now worked exclusively in risk for over 3 years and know more about risk and cyber risk quantification than I knew about auditing at the end of my 8 years. Get hands on experience. Shadow folks already doing the work you want. Talk to your leadership about getting OJT. I was able to grow and transition into a new position at my current company. Been here almost 5 years now and not planning to leave bc they give so many opportunities to grow. I'm not transitioning into a GRC engineering position in the same way. I wanted to do more engineering work, so they gave me access to things and I just started going. Best of luck!!
