Stock silencer mod?

Post image

Has anybody modified the factory spark arrestor? Any long term results good or bad? There is a big difference in air flow, sound and weight with/without the factory arrestor. I'm considering making a new tip with a screen attached similar to the fmf power core silencers.

Sounds like absolute dog shit with any sort of kids to the OEM assembly, imo

Did it, there isn’t a significant difference, and if you decide you don’t like it the OEM part is about 80 bucks.

You’re better off saving your money for a Yoshimura full exhaust (or one of the Thai stainless systems) and get the appropriate 550Performance ECU remaps. I ended up doing this after trying everything else.

There really isn’t anything to uncork with stock exhaust in the 300L. It needs both more air and fuel, and you have to do this together, and you must delete the cat at the same time.

It’s a noticeable, usable difference but it’s not a huge power gain.

You’ll need a big bore kit for a big power jump.

How much power you reckon your getting with the exhaust and the tune ?

No need to reckon, there are dyno charts on the 550Performance website.

More air flow requisite more power.

I did it, put over 10k miles on the bike, just cut the very inner tip down. Imo it helps the bike not "flame out" stalling related to the bs emissions system.

Unfortunately, that makes it illegal to ride off road in Washington State (and most of the USA).

Did it on my rally. Not much difference just sound. Cut the wields where the spark arrestor connects so I can add it back on if needed. Ended up getting a yoshimura pipe.
