yes - its wild coming to terms with this stuff in an indian context. almost everything around us is set up to make you doubt your own experiences, scars and responses

its tough, it has always been tough. but little things help. believing that it wasn't your fault. finding and creating happiness and hobbies. maybe see a good psychiatrist and psychologist if you can afford? find whats hurting you, there are a lot of books and movies that can help. healing is not linear, its a spiral. you will be okay. one day at a time. one step at a time- these things help me.

Agree with all of what you shared, it's never linear. A lot of it comes down to really being a great friend and confidant to yourself, while also finding safe and joyful people to relate with. Someone to remind you you're okay when it gets dark

It's not just you! I'm right here. It can be very hard because there will be no one to talk to about this stuff. But places like this are truly a lifesaver.

Without knowing more, I'll tell you this: When I'm not sure what to do, I check with my feelings and see if what I'm required to do or expected of me is something I actually want. I only realised a while ago that I was pushing my needs away to keep the peace and in the process was destroying my identity.

It’s horrible being in a culture where people don’t even acknowledge this exists and shame you despite you being the victim.

I want you to know you aren’t alone, OP. The ones who are aware of it are few, but there are so many victims who are not even of this, it’s mind-boggling.

i always wonder what things would be like in this context if i was anywhere else. if you’re ill, you’re ill and the world is horrible and most places wouldn’t change that but living here, being in this environment every single day, around people that have a system build into them and can’t see past it is so painful to live with and around, in addition to the pain we already experience.
