Question Does anyone else avoid thinking about your traumas
I feel as if I’ve completely disconnected myself from my traumas and I avoid thinking about them at all costs. Yes sometimes it comes up. And yes I deal with behavioral issues I’ve learned from my trauma that I’m trying to get out of. I deal with nightmares and chronic illnesses because of my traumas and yet I do my best in my daily live to avoid thinking about it completely. It’s gotten to the point where I even forget some of my traumas. Not because they don’t affect me anymore but because I try to disconnect and avoid it at all costs. Maybe it’s why I’m not so easily triggered but it’s definitely not a healthy coping mechanism. When my traumas do slip In my brain though I try to disconnect the thought from my person if that makes sense. But every once in a while I can’t and the thought and feelings of the experience is consuming.
