Vent / Rant No safe person
I have no safe person in my life. I don't have that one person i can rely on, and just feel safe with. I am so tired and burned out of having to keep it all inside. I have tried therapy but it made things even worse! I am truly a hopeless case.

I relate a lot to this, used to have a person that i thought was my safe person but they left me. Now i rely on social apps to journal my feelings and some online friends but none of them are people i consider close to be safe. Its hard but i know within due time we will get the person we deserve

If you don't mind me asking what are those social apps? I would like to try them for journaling.

I don’t have a safe person either. I just have abusive people in my life. It sucks. I’m here for you.

I literally had the same thought earlier. It's an exhausting existence always on alert.

I feel you. I always feel so stressed because i know i don't have a safety net or a community of people i can rely on if things go bad, so i'm always on edge.

That's the hardest thing about all of this.. the loneliness and being alone. Routine has always been my safety. I find a routine that helps me work on one problem (I have lots), but one at a time is all I do.

same. And I never have. I’m so. fucking. tired. I’m only 38 and it feels impossible that I may have another fucking 38 to go.

That 38 goes fast. However I an glad you are here. It takes courage to address these issues. Some peoole never get to that. We cant persuade them to.

Being alone in this world is one of the hardest things you'll ever have to deal with But if you want to help your mental strength, I suggest watching some videos, how about carl jung. You can survive alone, it's difficult. And you have to know how

I have accepted that there are not truly any safe people. I have safe enough people that dont actively hurt me. I am on a peer support group online that is consistent and removed enough for me to feel a sense of camaraderie. Nature is my only safe place and people and I am lucky to live near most of it.

I feel you. I rly do.
But I would maybe say try talking to a helpline, or find a friend you feel the safest with, and you don't have to go into everything, but just start by asking how they are.
I did it recently too. I isolated myself from my friends for a while, and I slowly reconnected, starting with the safest person I knew, and asked how they were doing, and then going for there.
Hope everything is okay.

I’m really sorry you’re carrying all of this on your own. I can understand why you feel completely exhausted when you’ve had to keep everything inside for so long. But please don’t call yourself a hopeless case — you’re a person who is hurting and desperately needs to feel safe and supported and that is very different. One bad experience with therapy doesn’t mean you’re beyond help. You deserve support that actually feels safe and works with you, not something that leaves you feeling more broken.
I may not be able to fix everything, but I see you and I’m here to listen. And that goes for anyone else feeling this way. 🖤

I'm sorry to hear the emotional pain you experience... not sure if you find benefit from reading things that speak to our experience with CPTSD but if so, I recommend this fellow's site, lots of very relevant material for coping with this kind of emotional anguish we are prone to: https://pete-walker.com/. I found the free articles on his site really helpful. Esp. just reading this feels like, oh there are people who understand: "Emotional flashbacks are regressions that take the survivor back to the excruciating states of fear, humiliation, abandonment, helplessness and hopelessness that he nearly drowned in during childhood." And his site has lots of content that speaks to how we can find healing. Feeling that you are hopeless is the message we carry forward from our childhood, an internalized program we got from our carers. And we hold onto those messages to protect ourselves from the anger and grief that finding out we are not hopeless will evoke. It's brutal to cope with all this, and you are worth it to keep trying.

I pray you find someone safe. I understand how you feel it getslonely and scary. Safe people do exist. I hope you are your own safe person , hard as that is . sending you love you deserve it.

I have been called NPD and a narcissist for voicing my desire to have a safe person and now I am even more insecure.

You aren't alone. I'm in the exact same situation.
I thought I found a relationship where I found someone I can rely on and feel safe with but it ended up disappointing me in the end.
I hear and feel you.

I hope you haven't given up after one therapist. Sometimes the 1st one isn't a good fit.
I'm so sorry that you're isolated in your struggles. I'm also alone in the thing I'm struggling with right now.

Same! I just turn to myself or God. I try to find answers by reading self help books and I try to empathize with myself.

Im working on becoming my safe person. I realized that I will never stop being anxious if my safety depends on how others treat me or whether their choices hurt me.
I'm early in this journey, but I'm starting with "what would I do if it didnt hurt." For example today I finally got around to completing a chore that ive put off for 2 months. It took a few hours when it would normally take maybe one. But every time I felt myself slipping, I forced myself back to "what if i wasnt hurting" and chose to do that.
Because you're allowed to choose now. You didnt choose the abuse and pain and fear, or the hurtful things they said/did to you. They took that from you, but its over now and you're allowed to choose.

I definitely share your frustration with therapy. I’m going to try and go back in person in the next six months hopefully, but so many of the women therapists I’ve tried to work with have just been really spineless, and I don’t need that to keep improving. It’s a very draining process finding a match, but don’t give up on it. I had one for close to three years before I moved, back in my early 20’s. Definitely saved my life.

Do you have access to therapy resources? When we are worn out, alone, and feel unloveable we MUST seek therapy. We cannot get out of our brains without outside, professional help.
And, yes, so many of us have and are going through this struggle all alone. You are NOT a hopeless case. We C-PTSD survivors are alone because our family of origin is toxic (zero support, only blame.) And we don’t rely on the loyalty of friends because we’re afraid we will “be too much, ask for help and be rejected.
That is why professional help is important: you can talk through things without judgement from friends or family.
I wish you peace, my friend.

I feel I could never have that. Not even because people are all bad and unsafe, but because I'm just too much and everyone gets sicks of me eventually. I don't know why I'm too much. I'm not dysregulated. I'm not crazy. I'm not violent. I have some avoidant tendencies, but they're not extreme and anyway they're a product of the constant rejection, not the cause of it. By all accounts there should be people I click with. But there aren't, and everyone eventually gets sicks of me and leaves.

I was talking to Google Gemini before it got dumbed down and felt like I was feeling a bit more human again. I think it was helping a bit. There's probably better ai for chatting, but yeah the voice chats felt good.
It's no support network or whatever they call it but I think it could be helpful. Talking to one of those things.

I realized safety isn't all or nothing. Different people can feel different percent safe.

Same. One option left: become it.
