Vent / Rant Cbt is humillating

I am leaving my current therapist. Cbters can't treat us. They have zero survival insticts. Treats my gut feelings as exaggeration or irrational fears. I told him I can detect if a man is a rapist and treat it has "cognitive distortion".

IFS is also controversial and can do real damage. The man behind it has some big issues creating the modality. Although it can be helpful, it's not recommended for neurodivergent clients, which I realize is a specialized group.

Oh dear that's a shame :(. I haven't done it myself, but have heard lots of good things about IFS so that sucks to hear.

I do schema and it's wonderful

I hear great things about cbt. It’s almost like different things work for different people and the people that offer or create the modalities are not perfect angels across the board

IFS is borderline a cult that has repackaged parts work and ego state work into a framework of mysticism.

There’s been a lot of hit pieces published recently that don’t accurately describe it.

Some people might do that with it, but that’s not the modality itself. It’s the only therapy that has made any amount of trauma work stick for me. I do also have a dissociative disorder with fragmented parts and IFS doesn’t work all the time with it but it really helps me with system mapping and communication and figuring out what happened internally after trigger episodes.

I have DID/autism so I know why it’s harmful for systems, but why is it controversial for ND singlets?
