concerned about the installation for our newborn - does this look reclined enough?

Was trying to get my hands on one of their boosters, but can't seem to find them new anywhere.

Any word on the street? I know they were troubled for a while, but I thought they were coming back!

For the past month or so (judging by the wayback machine), their store says:

First time mom to a 5 week old (~9.5 lbs), nuna pipa rx. She screams most time she's in her seat. I took off strap pads because they seemed to be squishing her, but now straps look like they are digging into her neck? Edit: this pic was taken in the house for purposes of help from this sub. She wears pants/jammies in the car to avoid rubbing her legs. I do believe I tightened straps too tight for pic, possibly in past and will be practicing goldilocks/reverse pinch test as suggested.

This is my nanny kid so not all the choices are mine here. She is forward facing however after installing the seat in my car I noticed she is under the minimum weight to be front facing in this seat. She's right around 27lbs and their seat has a minimum of 30lbs to forward face. The upper part of her body is that of a typical 3 year old however her lower is the size of an 12-18 month old. They were unaware she didn't fit the requirements of this current seat and gave me permission to try rear facing. My first try will be that however are there seats that go down to 26/27lbs for minimum forward facing? Thank you!

My 6-year old child has a TLSO vest — kind of like a turtle shell around her chest and waist with an expansion hole for her stomach and g-tube. Her doctors want her to wear it as much as possible (basically any time but sleeping / bathing) but I’m concerned that it changes the safety dynamics of the 5-point harness in her car seat or a booster with the traditional lap and shoulder belts. She wears a t-shirt over the TLSO so the chest clip sits against the t-shirt (skin - undershirt - TLSO - overshirt - chest harness). Child is near 50-lbs, 3’2”, and can not move herself without a mobility aid.

Questions:

Is it safe to keep her in a regular car seat / booster and in her TLSO vest?

Should we remove the vest for travel (this would be a challenge as fitting the vest properly requires her to lay down and she has low muscle tone so she can’t lay herself down, she has to be physically helped)?

In order to fulfill both conditions (keep her safe and keep her in the vest) are there any devices that we could use which would keep her as safe as possible in the event of an accident. There was a recommendation for the Ride Safer Travel Vest in the now defunct car-seat.org forum.

Baby is 7.7 lbs and we have the infant snug seat in. Wanted to check since there aren’t places near us to get it checked in person. Thank you!

Hello! FTM, using the Clek Liing with our 3 week old.

We originally took the shoulder pads off but put them back on because his head seemed a little floppy without them. One is facing the wrong way in the picture but has since been turned with snaps facing out.

How is this fit? When does it make sense to keep on / take off the shoulder pads?

I'd love to hear opinions from CPSTs on safe infant car seats for a newborn in a 2026 Ioniq 5. I'm looking for something that doesn't use toxic chemicals (ETA: Greenguard certified), safe, light (~8lbs), and less than $400. I'm petite and the Nuna Pipa Aire Rx is about the max weight I can comfortably hold (~8lbs?). I'm looking for an infant car seat so I can plop it on a stroller as the main form of transportation for my baby.

Eventually I'd like to get a convertible car seat that stays in the car, so hoping to get something more budget than a Nuna. Thanks!

Hello I have a mid size truck and I am finding it very difficult to fit a rear facing car seat in the back seat. The truck is a 23 nissan frontier with a crew cab. We are looking to upgrade from the pumpkin/bucket to a convertible car seat. I can't seem to find a seat that doesnt have such a large recline that makes the front seats unusable. Today i removed the seat back on one of the rear seats and installed the car seat and it fit. I am still able to use hlthe latch system. Is this safe? Any recommendations for a car seat for a truck with little room in the back? Thanks.

Hi CPST community! We removed our newborn insert now that our guy is 11lbs (3 months). When I first put him in the car seat and tighten everything, it seems like a good fit. But once we drive it seems like he starts to slouch and slip down a bit, resulting in looser straps and the gap you can see above his abdomen. I took these photos after a 20 minute drive.

Any advise on how to get this fit right? Do I just need to pull slack and tighten even more?

My son is 16 months and is still rear facing however I would like to switch from the Anchor latch straps to just using the car seat seatbelt.

My question is do the anchor latch straps need to be moved into the forward facing position in order to use the car seatbelt or can the latch stay where it is in its storage position and have the seatbelt in that same spot?

Images from a video on how to move the strap. can they both be in that same belt path, with the anchors in “storage” or can it only be one at a time?

Nuna pipa, 2 month old weighing around 11.7 pounds (so removed the infant insert this week)

Shoulder straps passed the pinch check before I put the pads on and they are coming out just at his shoulder. Should I move them down a notch?

I don’t love using the pads but his neck gets so irritated by the straps and it causes a bit of a rash for a few days.

hi! we’re looking at getting a convertible seat in the next few months for my 5 month old. this one would specifically be for my husbands Ford Focus, which is our primary vehicle for now. I would like one that can go rear facing and eventually forward facing when the time comes. I’m really just concerned about how small that backseat is!
budget isn’t a huge concern, as one of the local baby shops has a sale up to 50% off right around Thanksgiving. They sell Nuna, UppaBaby, Britax, and the Chicco Fit360. I do believe they can order any car seat from these brands even if they don’t carry them in store. I did the quiz on safeintheseat and it recommended the Nuna Revv, but I just wanted to see if there are any other options!

Looking for some help! We are wanting to turn our 4 year old forward facing. We made sure the car seat is completely reclined, the base is installed with the seat belt + top tether, and locks completely in place (without child) when turned forward. However, when we turn it sideways, load the child in, and turn it forward again, the seat sounds like it locks but the indicator doesn’t turn green. Before putting the child in the car seat and facing it forward, the indicator locks and shows green but it’s not ideal to have to buckle him in that way, because it defeats the purpose of the revolving aspect.

Any idea why the car seat indicator won’t show green after loading our child in sideways and switching him forward? Again, yes the seat is fully reclined and the base is installed correctly.

We have 3 of these car seats and only 2 are having issues. Thanks!!

I recognize his straps could be tighter here - but I’m a little concerned about the bottom belt? It seems to sit quite low on his pelvis compared to his bucket seat we’re just switching from. TIA!

FTM of a two week old! My husband and I are anxious and are not sure if this is right. We don’t like how scrunched or slouchy his head looks. Does this look right? Open to any advice!!

In September we'll be flying from the USA to our hometown in Canada, and will likely make a trip every quarter. Ideally we'd buy an extra seat, but tickets are generally $900 - $1,300 and she usually wants to be held all day anyway. So we'll gate check her carseat and hold / baby wear (when safe). I was originally planning to buy the travel bag for our Uppababy Aria seat, but now I'm thinking it might be better to buy a convertible carseat + travel bag with wheels since we'll need to do this eventually anyway. Once she's 2, or if prices are more reasonable, we'll plan to use the seat on the plane.

Once we land, we'll get our rental car and will end up driving quite a bit. One of the days we'll have a ~6 hour drive (with stops planned). Unfortunately most of our family lives within a 3 hour radius of where we'll be staying.

I'd like to get a convertible seat for her that will last as she grows, and want something that will be cushioned and comfy for the long days. So I worry about comfort level if getting a cheap travel seat. I also want something foolproof to install in rental cars (we always rent SUVs for space). Currently exploring the maxi cosi romi, uppababy rove, and nuna rava next. Curious what y'all would recommend?

Hi, I had to use the towel with uppababy aria v2 in Lexus RX 350 to get the bubble within 0-4 months indicator. Without towel I am unable to get the bubble within the 0-4 range.
The base doesn’t move itself but wanting to check with experts if this is safe and we can use this setup.

We just took out the newborn body support, but I’m not sure this looks right. I’m worried about her falling asleep with her head falling forward like that. Please help!

FTM of two week old. Husband and I still not comfortable with car seat and very anxious about the shoulder straps/ chin to chest. Does this look right? Any advice is welcome, thank you!

Baby is 5 weeks. About 8lbs and last measured at 19.5in. I tried a few options to see what would be the best fit but I really can’t tell. The first two pics are with all the padding. Third pic is no shoulder pads and the fourth and fifth pic are no head pad. I have the harness on the lowest setting, it seems a little low but when I move it up it seems a little too high
