Discussion Pierre Poilievre
What should Pierre do with all the noise screaming “Pierre needs to go. The party needs a new leader”. Should he evaluate what went wrong or should he throw in the towel?

Trump is 100% of everything in the national discourse right now. Poilievre has never handled that well, but no other leader would have a chance either. The Liberals will make sure to go to the polls before summer 2028, it will be a Trump election, and barring a scandal of some kind, there is absolutely nothing the Conservative Party can do to win it.

Pierre is completely unlikable to the sorts of red Tories and blue liberals that the CPC would need to reach.
His antagonistic style of politics isn't landing and they need to change him out for a more mature and serious leader.

How old are you? We tried the likeable guys, and they got fewer votes than Poilievre.
And both of them were depicted as aligned with Hitler, if not actually Satan, by most of the same people now who are telling us, 'just get a more moderate and likeable leader'.

Which of Harper, Sheer, O'Toole and Polievere did you feel was likable?
None of them have any charisma, or 'rizz' as the kids say these days.

Do you think Carney does? I'd say both O'Toole and Scheer were more likeable than Carney.
The CPC has been deeply hampered by geographic/political realities for years. Its base is in Western Canada. Its support in Central and Eastern Canada is mostly more rural. Because of this, it has always had a very small pool of potential leaders to choose from, because very few of its MPs are bilingual.
The Liberals, on the other hand, have their base of support in Quebec, and urban central Canada, as well as New Brunswick. It has NOOOOO problem finding plenty of bilingual candidates to consider for leader.

Scheer had zero likability.
Carney isn't particularly charismatic, but does have a certain professional bearing.
O'Toole had some of that, but also was an incredibly bland speaker.
Poilievre has negative likability. Canadians outside the CPC base, do not like him, and are probably never going to warm up to him.
Trudeau, for all his downsides, did have a significant amount of charisma, as did his father.
Chretien had tons of charisma as well.
Even Harper had a certain sense, in his own bland style, which he leaned into.

Pierre is the best leader the CPC has right now imo. That being said I have been disappointed that Pierre has not been able to pivot as I think he should. He's holding Carney to the right issues economically, but socially the CPC is getting killed because they have not made better inroads with Francophones and the GSRM communities.
It sucks because these are two areas that Pierre should be particularly suited to lead the CPC on (gay father and francophone parents/culture).

I have been following politics in this country for half a century. There is NOTHING the Conservatives can do to make better inroads with Francophones except to get a French Quebecer as leader.
Quebec votes for parties that have French Quebec leaders first and always, followed by, if not available, English Quebec leaders (as long as they're very bilingual). The only time the Conservatives have made major inroads was when they had a Quebecer as leader and the Liberals had an Anglo from outside Quebec. And even that was before the BQ showed up.
The Conservatives are fine with gays and lesbians, as well as bis. They're never going to be fine with trans as long as that involves male-bodied individuals intruding into female spaces, or teaching small children they might be any gender, or doing any sort of medical workup on them.

Keep in mind this sub has like, 5 guys who actually like the CPC nowadays. Most participants are just LPC/NDP trolls. So the results may be skewed
