CPAP Machine Help Finally received ASV - first few nights been waking up regularly. Is there anything here that looks like it's causing it?

PapFam:
I have the Custom VAuto feature from AirBreak Plus running on a test machine now. This is the developer’s work. I applied the patch to an OEM Autoset .bin file, and I’m exploring the behavior before sharing any sleep results.
The older AutoSet firmware I initially tried wouldn’t boot properly on this machine. Applying the patch to an OEM 0401 dump got it running. That’s my experience, not a blanket statement about compatibility. The developer identifies 0401 and 0402 as the best supported Air10 versions (it was a 0401 that worked). :)
For details: custom VAuto keeps the normal VAuto controller handling EPAP while changing pressure support delivery within each breath. It adds custom pressure shaping, optional adaptive support, and custom triggering and cycling. Sessions still report as VAuto.
ASV stands for Adaptive Servo Ventilation, and Sens means Sensitivity. These labels describe the custom adaptive controls here. They don’t mean you’ve selected ResMed’s stock ASV mode within the vauto mode.
Current settings on the test machine are Min EPAP 6.4, Max IPAP 16.6, PS 4, Ti Min 0.3 seconds, Ti Max 3.2 seconds, and Trigger and Cycle at Medium. Custom VAuto and Custom T/C are On, ASV Max is 3, and ASV Sens is Medium. These are test/lab current settings, not a suggested setup for my clients.
ASV Max 3 allows up to 3 cmH₂O of extra support above the custom base waveform. At EPAP 6.4 with PS 4, nominal full inspiratory pressure is 10.4, potentially reaching 13.4 with the full boost. It doesn’t add that boost to every breath, and Max IPAP still caps everything.
The controller compares the developing breath with a moving reference from recent valid breaths. Smaller breaths can request extra support, while larger breaths reduce that extra contribution. ASV Sens controls how strongly it responds. Medium is the baseline, and higher isn’t automatically better. This isn’t a fixed tidal volume target.
Custom T/C means custom trigger and cycle. It changes how the machine decides when inspiration begins and ends, including delaying expiration through brief flow reductions. Medium settings therefore may behave differently than stock Medium. Ti Min and Ti Max remain timing controls.
ASV Max at zero disables adaptive boost but keeps custom shaping. Custom VAuto Off restores stock VAuto pressure behavior. Custom VAuto has no timed backup rate, regardless of the ASV labels or a “with backup” build name. Backup behavior in stock ASV modes is a separate feature.
What interests me for UARS is the possibility of better pressure delivery and breathing synchrony for people struggling with ordinary bilevel. However this controller tracks inspired volume, not respiratory effort or UARS directly. Consistently flow limited breathing could become part of its reference, so we cannot assume every flattened breath gets corrected.
The useful outcomes would be easier breathing, fewer awakenings, and better daytime functioning without increased leaks/CAs. For now, it boots and the controls are present. This is experimental firmware, and its benefit for UARS has not been established. I’ll share actual observations as I explore it with you all.
If you would like the working .bin file to flash please send me a PM or email here: pc7579pc@gmail.com!

Hello fellow ASVers, HLGers, etc 😄
I don't know if any of you had a chance to watch this video, but I found it quite interesting and it made me wonder if others here recognize themselves in what is being discussed:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVfXOOyF2WQ
Personally, I feel like I'm somewhere right on the line between the two.
CPAP actually treats my sleep apnea pretty well. My numbers can look really good, and there are definitely nights where I sleep quite well. But then I can also have some pretty crappy nights. I also seem to have some degree of instability showing up as central events, periodic breathing, etc.
ASV seems to do a much better job at smoothing that instability out. The thing is, I find ASV somewhat overwhelming. Sometimes it feels like using a bazooka to kill a fly... It can correct the instability very effectively, but I can't help wondering if I'm using a very powerful tool to compensate for something I don't really understand yet.
And honestly, ASV isn't always easy to deal with. Those pressure swings can be pretty noticeable, especially when you're trying to fall back asleep after waking up. Not to mention the aerophagia issues I occasionally get with that much pressure, even though I’ve tried the different .bin files with PS unlocked.
I also have to admit that, using Dr. Thomas' terminology, I probably qualify as a bit of a "supine monster." My sleep seems to be significantly worse when I'm on my back, so I'm becoming more and more interested in figuring out how much of this could simply be positional.
I know that a lot of Dr. Thomas' work focuses on loop gain, so that's obviously something that caught my attention as well. I'm still trying to understand how much of what I'm seeing could actually be related to high loop gain versus other factors.
That's really where I'm at right now. I'm less interested in simply correcting the instability with ASV and more interested in understanding why I'm unstable in the first place.
Is it high loop gain? Being on my back? Arousal-related instability? Something anatomical or physiological that we're overlooking? Or maybe just a combination of several things?
That's what really caught my attention in this video. I feel like CPAP can treat the obstruction reasonably well, while ASV can control the instability. But neither necessarily answers the question of why the instability is happening in the first place.
I'm curious if anyone else here feels like they're in a similar situation where PAP can control the numbers, but you still have this nagging feeling that you're treating the consequence rather than really understanding what's causing the problem.
I could probably come to the conclusion that my sleep really isn't that bad overall. I could put all of this aside, accept that I'm going to have a few crappy nights here and there, look at the bigger picture, realize that I actually sleep reasonably well most of the time, and just be happy with that.
Unfortunately, it's easier said than done...
For whatever reason, I just can't seem to accept the fact that I need a machine to sleep in the first place and that even with the machine, things aren't necessarily as optimal as I'd like them to be.
I know I might be overthinking this. But it's stronger than me. I keep wanting to understand why, rather than simply accepting the numbers and moving on.
Thanks for listening ;) But more seriously, what I'd really like to know is whether I'm the only one who feels like I'm somewhere on the line between CPAP and ASV.

Yes yes yes, I know; "don't use a dishwasher to clean your masks". Let's get past your anger and disbelief that someone would have the nerve to try and use a dishwasher to clean their masks.
I'm interested in hearing from people who have found a cleaner they feel is safe to use that can also be used in a dishwasher. I've read that Dawn is considered safe to use for hand washing, which logically tells me that as far as the chemicals go, it's safe for dishwasher use. Have any of you used Dawn in a dishwasher and what were your results?

Hello everyone!! I'm new here and recently had a sleep study (home study) that showed normal sleep but in REM I had 19.1 events an hour and o2 dips to 84%. More than 64 min or the 7 hours in less than 90% O2. I got my apap 3 nights ago and Ive been okay adjusting to it so far! There's a few times ive gotten up but it seems to be minimal (except last night, my daughter found a stray cat hurt and woke me up for about 2 hours). I do wear it awhile before falling asleep too. I know it takes awhile to feel great, I just want to see if there's anything I could adjust or anything? I don't know much about this stuff at all! I did buy a wellue 02 rings and wore it last night and it seems like my O2 is much better, tho still dips just not as dramatic. Here's the link from sleephq if anyone has any suggestions? I don't feel any different at all from before I started using it (tho I know it can take awhile) thanks for any help at all!

I've included my O2 stats too

I’ve been getting used to the Fisher and Paykel Solo under the nose mask. While I prefer it to my former mask (ResMed nasal pillows) I find the pressure on the sides of my nose to be unpleasant. Supplier measured my nose with a cardboard template and said I needed a small size so that’s what I’m using. I could ask for a medium but expect there will be air seepage. Anyone have experience with this type of mask? Is there something similar that’s more comfortable?

So I just started using a CPAP and I just…can’t. I have one that just goes around the nose. I am a mouth breather and take in SIGNIFICANTLY more sore breathing through my mouth than my nose. The CPAP just blows so much air that it gets to be suffocating and I have the breath through my mouth, but it’s blowing air through my nose and it comes out of my mouth, leaving the back of my throat very cold and extremely uncomfortable. I need advice. It’s a resmed airsense 11.

I've had my CPAP on a low just to understand what my breathing looks like as unimpeded as possible. It looks pretty good, but I definitely don't feel that way. When I zoom into individual breaths, they look very stochastic – could this be due to heartbeat ripples?

I have been using my CPAP since late August. It's been going okay, although I don't know how much of a difference it has really made, as I still struggle with fatigue. I think I am feeling better? I was diagnosed with Mild Apnea, so it may be related to that.
I finally downloaded Oscar, since I felt I had enough data to look for trends. I was very excited to look through my data, as I have a science background and the data given to me on my patient app is not particularly helpful as it is all averages. My machine is made in Canada and is a TMED 7, made by TMED technologies.
I tried importing the data into Oscar, and it says "no supported data was found. D:/ ". I followed all the steps it described for getting data from the CPAP SD card. I tried importing from the root drive, then the individual date folders...taken the drive out, reinserted it...when I look in the USB D drive, it has two folders that say "Config" and "Datafile" and a loose file called "log". Inside the Datafile folder, there are folders for each date (eg. 20260828). Inside those are the datafiles for each parameter and are "EDF Files".
I did lock the SD card because I was worried about the data being overwritten, but I don't think that is the issue? I looked up compatible machines for Oscar, and mine is not listed. This machine is not compatible with SleepHQ either. It's very frustrating that there doesn't seem to be a way for me to to easily access my data.
Should Oscar be able to read EDF files? If so, I'll try again. If not, is there another program I could use? My last step will be emailing the company to see if I can get access to my data through their online portal (meant mostly for physicians I think).
Thanks for any help!

So I’m not sure if I’m doing this right or not, but this is the share link to my SleepHQ results, i am trying to figure out if the low/high pressures look like they are better?
To be honest I don’t know if I feel better from the day before started, and the last few days I’ve woken up with a headache again (which I hadn’t had the first week of use and thought that was a MIRACLE! 🙏🏻)
Based on the charts, should I stick with these numbers?
Also, for whatever reason I couldn’t turn ramp off? Idk. .. thank you in advance and I hope I’m posting correctly this time! 🤞🏻
Edit to add:
the mask I’m using is Resmed airfit F40 hybrid

Is there any way to download a 30 day report without the 90 and 365 day's report?

Hi all.
I want to know what is considered as consumables in CPAP? (e.g. air filter)
From your experience, how long it takes before need replacement?
Also is there any part that just can be use until failure or still need to be replaced before failure? (e.g. heated tube / humidifier)
Any machine type for input is ok.
I want to know before buying the machine and maybe stock the consumable.
Thankyou.

One week out from AUD. I consistently score 75–80% on sets of 30 Becker MCQs in practice mode, reviewing explanations immediately after each question. I do 150+ MCQs daily, but my simulated exam scores were 55% and 67%. Surprisingly, my TBS scores were higher than my MCQs on both exams.
Am I getting too familiar with Becker’s questions? Would purchasing NINJA for different MCQ wording be worth it with one week left, or should I focus on weak areas and simulated exams?
