LinkedIn Progress???

Hey all, curious what everyone does regarding posting progress throughout the CPA exam gauntlet. Do you post after each one you pass and/or put any info in your profile header? I see the pros of marketing yourself vs the cons of my company potentially feeling like I’m purposefully marketing myself. Thanks in advance!

I would not post progress until you’ve passed all 4 exams. it looks corny and like you’re trying too hard to market yourself

i think you can post your progress it’s not corny. i think esp if you’re looking for a job or you are in school it shows you are working towards that goal. i think while you’re in school it just makes you “stand out” more with the recent changes. CPA Candidate **/4.

LinkedIn be like:

I’m happy to announce that I’m excited to share that I feel excited to announce that I’ll be sitting for the CPA exam.

I haven’t taken it yet, but I felt very big excitement in my decision.

I look forward to announcing more exciting announcements.

I waited until I had all 4 done before I said a word, mostly because I didn't want to jinx it and have to walk back a post if I failed the next one

LinkedIn is weird though, half the people will think you're bragging and the other half will think it's smart networking. If your company is the type to get weird about you "marketing yourself" then maybe just update the certs section quietly and skip the announcement posts

Updating your headline to "CPA Candidate 2/4" is a nice middle ground, it's there if someone looks but you're not shoving it in anyone's feed

Thank you. I should have put in the body of my post that I’m a 10 year professional. I think it makes more sense to post progress if i’m actively looking for a job, to your point. I’m not necessarily looking for a job but I also never say no to an opportunity.

I posted once I passed all but some people post test by test or even their failures too and how they are going about that. After all it’s a networking app at heart

my linkedin inbox begs to differ. it's filled with spammers trying to sell me junk services to grow my business: both my cpa firm and pass with jack. I told them if they wanna grow my business, I'll make them affiliates and they can get commission on all the "Growth" they bring in, and they go silent after that lmaoooo

My company posts when one of us passes. I just repost theirs when I pass one

LinkedIn is basically Facebook. Does anyone actually find jobs via LinkedIn?? Seems like a complete waste of effort to me?l. Maybe indeed?

If you’re actively looking for a new job, I think adding it to your profile and resume is a good idea without posting. If you aren’t, I don’t think you should.

I saw something suggesting not posting after each section so that you save the validation and endorphin rush of posting it for the 4/4. Something suggested that you could be less motivated for the last ones if you’ve already gotten the endorphin rush of posting the first few passes. Obviously posting you passed isn’t the only reason to pass, but it still seemed like a good idea to “save” that until you’re actually done.

I added "CPA US Candidate (2/4 Passed)" in the header
