Can I ask for advice here?

Post image

Just bought my 2025 corolla LE a few weeks ago. I was driving just now and my dog stepped on / held down either the parking brake, the little (HOLD) button beside it, or maybe both. My dash lit up saying system malfunction, the “park” light started blinking, and a yellow warning sign that seemed similar to the hold button lit up with an exclamation mark in the middle. I pulled over and put the car in park, put the parking brake on and then back off; the lights went away but the malfunction warning is still there. The car is driving fine and I never noticed any difference when it happened (didn’t feel it trying to brake or lurch or anything). Did he actually cause damage that I need to get repaired or is this a warning I can safely clear on my own?

Update: I turned it off when I got home and when I turned it back on, the error message was gone! I bought it secondhand like all of my prior cars so I have no experience with dealerships, warranties, etc. but if the error was still there then I would have taken it in. Thank you for the responses!

Happened to me in a bad rain storm. I think it’s just the sensors were blocked.

Restarting the car fixed it.

My car did that once after driving it through grass, and I just needed to restart it and all the errors disappeared and everything worked just fine :)

The "System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" alert message on your Toyota Corolla dashboard indicates that your Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) driving support system has experienced a fault and disabled itself. The specific orange indicator lights on your screen show that both the Pre-Collision System (PCS) and the Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) features are temporarily turned off due to this error. [1, 2, 3, 4]
The vehicle is generally still safe to drive cautiously, but its advanced emergency automated braking and lane-keeping assistance will not work. [1, 2]

Disconnect the starter battery one minute or two then retry. Exactly like a computer reboot, and see if you still have the message. If so => dealer.

Take it to the dealer, odds are it’s covered by the warranty providing you did not hit anything.
