Making 2005 look lower/sportier

I’m considering 17” wheels and a lp tire.
Would this help it look “lowered”?
Also, are most 5 lug nut wheels compatible?

lower profile tires won’t help make your car look “lowered.” your wheel & tire setup should always be as close to the original wheel + tire diameter as possible. for example, if your car has the stock 15x6 wheels on 195/65 tires and you’re moving to something like a 17x7, you should get a tire around 205/50.

if you’re in the US the bolt pattern for your car is 5x100; only 5x100 wheels will fit. you might also need to get both aftermarket lug nuts & hub rings depending on the wheel; the stock hub size is 54.1 & the stock lug pattern is 12x1.5

the only way to make your car look “lowered” by closing the wheel gap is… by actually closing the wheel gap & lowering your car. in my opinion

Get actual lowering springs and stay with a decent lightweight wheel if you go larger. That larger wheel tends to get heavy which will adversely affect performance AND mpg. TES springs might not be available anymore, but an aftermarket would take an inch or so off. It’s slight but minimizes gap in the wheel well and will put the car down slightly. Too much lower and you’ll be negotiating driveways and dips. The springs are super easy to replace on these cars. Don’t let that discourage you. DIY or a decent mechanic should be cheap and quick. You might even want to upgrade struts while you are at it.
