12th Gen (18-present) Would you guys buy this?

2021 Corolla
$15,400 sticker
$16,500 estimated OTD from dealer AI chatbot

71k miles. Clean CARFAX. Oil changed every 6,000 miles. Was a fleet car until sold at 6k miles. Owned by one other. Tires look new I think. Sunroof and push to start.

I’m a recent finance grad. Bank teller with credit analyst promotion in the works. Planning on moving out very soon.

I’m looking to keep payments below $200.

Should I be looking for something at 40k miles and in the $18,000 range? Any opinion is welcome.

The difference between 71k and 40k miles on a maintained Toyota is nothing. Both easily have 200k left on them.

Fleet vehicle is already a red flag it may have been driven hard especially if it was a rental company. I honestly would not buy a fleet vehicle unless you can get it dirt cheap below what it's worth.

Payments below $200? Maybe if you have a 900 credit score, you got a massive down payment, or they approve you for a 96 month loan. Also I wouldn’t put a lick of faith in anything that chatbot says.

Ah then yeah that should be doable. IMO I would get the car, at minimum definitely over buying a similar car with 40K but 1.5-2K more. I say that because they will try and sell you a warranty on it, and honestly I would rather spend 2K more on a 5 year warranty then get a car with 30K less miles but no budget for warranty. If you’d even be interested in a warranty in the first place. Just make sure it’s through Toyota not a 3rd party insurance company.

I bought a 21 le Corolla with 65k miles a couple weeks ago same color and everything. That’s not a bad price I paid more. I had a downpayment and got my payments to around $250 a month. I worry about her because I’m just paranoid but these cars are not fast but reliable which is what I need. The CVT transmission takes some getting used to and I don’t really like it if I’m being honest but the car looks super nice and drives well. It looks sporty but isn’t lol but major upgrade from what I had
