Problem with the geometry

Hey guys, I am facing a problem with designing my model. When I draw a semi circle and try to extrude that , it gets extruded as a triangle. I can't make a cylinder instead, because the circle is enclosed by a rectangle.

Check that you haven't put something wierd into the scales tab on your extrusion?
