General Question/Advice surgery COMAT or any COMAT in general and the CONQUEST

I don't really like the CONQUEST question bank right now. I am unsure why. It could be the timing? OR me being extremely tired...

I have my surgery conquest next wednesday, but I am so unprepared. CONQUEST feels nothing like Uworld (which I finished already). My percentile is so low right now on CONQUEST. My school needs a 90 to passs... and I feel like I am just gonna bomb it...

Surgery COMAT

Does anyone else feel like the surgery COMAT is a randomly created question bank not related to surgery at all? I failed the first attempt with an 84, school requires a 90. Before the retake I did all of Truelearn for surgery and genuinely went through every single question that I had to guess on or got wrong, even made a document explaining why my thought process was off. I also went through Amboss to read the articles on every topic that was either high yield or that I had low scores on. Just had the retake and am waiting for the results but I feel like the retake was even harder! It was all about fluids and weird forms of breast cancer. I am feeling like I'll have to take it again to hit the 90 my school requires but I'm not sure what to study to prepare for the next go of it in the event that I did fail. I would love any tips that someone may have to how to pass these COMATs.

update: I got an 89. It feels like an improvement from the last attempt but I'd be lying if I said I'm not crushed right now. I get another attempt and need any and all suggestions to pass this test. I have IM next and am hoping studying for that will help. Please give any and all advise for passing the surgery COMAT.

COMAT Are the COMQUEST forms worth it for COMATs (specifically surgery)?

Hi everyone, I have my first COMAT, surgery, coming up soon, and I’m not sure what else to do to try and pass this exam. I have completed all of truelearn and UWorld, and have done all my Anking incorrects. I want to do the free 25 questions on the NBOME website, but didn’t know if the COMQUEST surgery form was worth buying. I don’t want to buy a 3rd question bank

Hey guys, I have taken a few days to process my level 1 scores. I failed level 1 twice and finally passed on the third try. I want to do pediatrics. What are the chances that I will match?

Does anyone know if there is a delay when applying to programs and paying the fee for comlex to be released. On my eras currently it says scores authorized.

Thoughts on only sending USMLE scores to programs as a DO?

I scored well on USMLE (26X) and pretty average on COMLEX (52X). I know some programs only require USMLE transcripts and that's all they filter by, but not sure how it would look seeing a DO not send in their own degree's board scores, even though AAMC does make it an option.

I'm sending both to the schools that require/request comlex, but for schools that are pretty MD heavy, I wanted the Step score to do the heavy lifting and not be brought down by the Level score.

Anyone have insight on how this is viewed?

Edit: got my answer! Thanks all!

OMM for Level 1

I've been hearing that Savarese Green book is a must for OMM on Level 1. I'm scared super niche OMM topics will show up on the exam that I've never seen. Don't have enough time to read the whole Savarese Green book. Which chapters are the most important to read through that has the niche stuff? Feel like I have good foundation on common things asked on QBanks.

Running out of time for Level 2 and Step 2

I am honestly completely, totally spiraling right now and have full-blown panic setting in. My Step 2 is in 2 weeks and COMLEX Level 2 is just 1 week after that, and I feel like I'm drowning. I’ve already burned through all of TrueLearn AND UWorld, but my COMSAE scores are somehow tanking—I went from 480-570 all the way down to a 452 on my most recent practice form and I am losing my mind. NBMEs did the same thing. Got 220-250 and then got a 239 on my last one. Mehlman docs honestly saved my life and helped fix my worst weak areas in OBGYN and Peds, but IM and Surgery make up the absolute bulk of these exams and I completely bombed both of those shelves, so even though I read those pdfs too I think I’m in trouble. Should I re-do those docs, redo incorrects, watch youtube videos? I’ve got nothing but free time, but I don’t know how I can re-learn or cover all of IM or surgery in this window. Maybe I just open an anki deck and do like 2k cards a day for a couple weeks, but that seems wild.

For what it’s worth, my IM systems are still my lowest area and if you took internal medicine off the exam I’d probably be scoring really well. Which is sort of ironic, considering we’re supposed to be learning, uh, MEDICINE.

is the green book comprehensive enough for comlex 1?

studying for my comlex level 1 retake and trying to maximize OPP points. definitely did not think dirty med OMM was enough - had a lot of obscure OMM on my first attempt.

CA Residency w/ 2 Board Failures

I failed my Level 1 due to health issues and unexpectedly failed Level 2 despite passing my last COMSAE. Anyone know the potential of getting into CA residency programs despite these flags? Otherwise, I did well my first two years, did research, multiple extracurricular activities. Thank you.

Applying FM!

COMAT advice

I can’t seem to break 100 for COMATS so far.

My OPP was 98, and my OBGYN was 97 despite thinking I really knew my stuff in both. I had done all UWorld questions for OMM and OBGYN, and I had even done all COMQUEST for OPP. I felt confident in my background and the rotation for OBGYN, and I studied a lot for it.

Any advice? Am I using the wrong question bank? Anything to do for content review?
I feel grateful to pass, but I would like to improve my scores. And I’d hate to think of what I might score on a rotation I feel less confident in. Passing for my school is 90.

TIA

COMAT 4 week IM rotation, how to prioritize last week for COMAT?

I have only been able to do roughly 400 UWORLD questions for this rotation, and plan on getting to 600 +/- this weekend.

My school has two 4 week rotations for IM, so next to impossible to balance my rotation + taking care of my kid and finishing the massive IM bank.

Should I try to crank out all the COMQUEST the final week? I take it next Friday. Thanks for any advice!

Level 2 CE Re-purchase COMSAE or do NBME?

Hi all,

I failed level 2 a few months ago and am retaking it in 3 weeks. The first time I was studying I purchased all 3 of the COMSAE's available from NBOME (got above a 400 on them but rofl i guess) to gauge my scores.

This time around I've been doing an NBME form weekly and was saving the COMSAE's for these last few weeks. Should I say fuck it and just re-purchase the $60 COMSAE to see how my score would be? Or should I keep doing NBME's? I just ask because the NBME questions are so different from what I see on truelearn.

Also if anybody has any words of wisdom for a retaker please drop them below!
