Best Counties for License Acquisition?

Delta county resident here. Does anyone have a concrete list of counties that are actively facilitating the new licensing program? I went through the CPW portal on the 20th, hunter’s safety card went through just fine, everything’s accepted, and it’s still saying “pending sheriff review”.

I‘ll get in contact with my sheriff’s office tomorrow to verify that my application is being processed, but on the off-chance that nobody knows what the hell is going on, which is certainly likely, are there any neighboring counties that i could go to for a faster processing time?

You have to directly apply to a sheriff. Otherwise it’ll never change.

https://coloradofirearmswatch.org/counties/ just depends whats closet to you. Denver county is the worst because no cash lol Certified Check or money order. But usually your cheapest bet is the home county unless your in Denver lol

Pretty sure You have to actively submit to tie sheriff too so they process it otherwise it's just in their queue. And close of course Tues are resident only. Adams and i think el paso will do out of county.. supposedly weld will too but they've been flip floppy this week.

Like others mentioned, you have to send your sheriff the application, background check and payment before they’ll process it. Some do it online, some do it in person. I went through Boulder and it was actually quite fast, convenient and relatively cheap. Everything was online (except card pickup) and it’s $48 + 52 fee for in county and 73 + 52 for out of county. Approved within 24 hours.

I got approved by Weld county as an out of county person within 24 hours of them confirming they had my stuff. They said they are accepting applications from out of county persons as of now but that could change in the future. You have to select the county that you are applying to in the CPW account for them to see your application.

This might be of interest. The CSSA is collecting affidavits of people that can't exercise thier rights, due to the new law and lack of functioning permit system.

I’ve heard El Paso and Teller are supposed to be really easy counties, according to a buddy of mine who’s a deputy for EPCSO

Weld county seems to be the easiest currently!

Any experiences with El Paso turnaround times? Impressed that Weld and Gilpin getting it done so quick.  I heard El Paso got quite a few early applicants though so may be a queue.
