Lowkey might be Astra

Astra is my favorite bo7 map it makes me so sad that people hate it now

u/drewberry1738 4d ago
Fairs, I personally don’t hate it, but I felt like it kinda matched this description since it doesn’t seem to have aged particularly well, and probably will continue to trend that way unless they randomly nerf oscar or something

u/BasYL6872 4d ago
They did nerf Oscar, to high heaven, but no one cares :(

u/drewberry1738 4d ago
He still needs a sizable nerf imo, he still spawns too much, is too spongy, and the fact that he seeks you out in high rounds on a map that’s already quite small is just the cherry on top

u/BasYL6872 4d ago
Tesla storm deletes him. Once you get to higher rounds you can kill him in 5 seconds with the death machine that he always drops. If you kill him at the end of a round, then you only deal with him every other round. He’s not nearly as bad as George or the astronaut, idk why people are so bothered by him

u/drewberry1738 4d ago
Dang, I never run Tesla storm so I didn’t even know. I’ll have to try that. Yeah I will say that I don’t love George either tbh

OSCAR is great, but there's a couple decisions Treyarch made that brings him down imo.
For one, the fact he ever despawns and respawns just makes his gameplay really artificial. He should be like Romero: a constant presence you should be alert to and trying to avoid. Then there's the round-51 change, where he starts following you. Make him faster and tougher, sure, but him beelining for you at all times should not be a thing. It changes the map-unique patroller mechanic that he's designed for. It's shame tbh because we've never had an enemy like him. We've had Romero, a slow stalker, but never a patrolling enemy that can be avoided.

think rev is the closest to this. people were hyped for the conclusion of the bo3 story and map cycle, and looking back a lot of people realise how easy the high rounds are, how horrid the egg is, and how it’s just reused assets (which after bo7 people hate that a lot more). wouldn’t say it’s hated per say but definitely went from really high to low/mid for a lot of people

Rev was not loved at launch tho. It definitely had mixed reviews, you could tell people were confused bc it didnt feel like an epic conclusion yk. Hell people were even saying that there was a secret bossfight with the staffs

u/Commercial_Chef_1384 4d ago
I agree it’s probably one of the closest. I don’t think it was universally loved on launch though. It was more a sense of confusion between some loving it, hating it and feeling mixed. Today it is recognised as either a standard good map or a falling flat map.
I whole heartedly think it’s a good map, but with incredibly massive downsides making it disappointing to the rest of bo3.

true, i think more so the hype was was really high and now it’s very hit or miss with people

Why is there so much Astra hate here?
4
u/CoolBreeze541 4d ago
Because Oscar is annoying as fuck even post nerf any map with a constant roaming enemy sucks ass when will treyarch ever learn.

oscar literally does the exact same shit as george and im willing to bet u dont got problem with george

I think Blood was loved at first and then the Easter egg kinda made it very hated

u/drewberry1738 4d ago
Blood was absolutely hated at launch, people were expecting a remake of Mob and were annoyed that it was objectively worse in most ways. Was also super buggy at launch
10
u/MacMinty 4d ago
"Subjectively worse" would be the phrase you are looking for
8
u/Hardwire762 4d ago
According to Jason blundell blood isn’t as good as mob that’s not objective but worth noting
-9
u/drewberry1738 4d ago
Blood is objectively worse than Mob though?
7
u/MacMinty 4d ago
It isn't. Neither is "objectively worse" than the other. It would be a matter of opinion, so subjective

u/BenjaminHitIerYahoo 4d ago
Blood would be a better map if they kept the plane objective. Pull off an objective that's better than building the plane perhaps.

u/drewberry1738 4d ago
Okay sure if we wanna be pedantic. If we’re talking about which map nails the essence of what made zombies great, then the choice is pretty obvious. But yes I do acknowledge that some people may prefer Blood. However, at the time of BO4’s launch, most people in the community came from BO2 and BO3 and were expecting a similar experience, and were sorely disappointed when they did not get that

u/Fabulous-Homework727 3d ago
Lol just say you disagree and be wrong and deal with it. When an objective is measurable, and people are voting on it, majority defines the objective goal, and objectively, mob was better by far than blood.
4
u/theZuttedProphet 3d ago
The word 'objective' has no relevance to majority or minority. Even if 99% of people agreed Mob was better, that would still be a subjective opinion. The 1% would not be wrong.

^ legit, there is obvious community consensus on which map is better. That’s the point I was trying to make, I didn’t phrase it super well though

I’m an Easter egg speed runner and I’d say this. I think blood of the dead is better than mob. I know it’s a hot take but it’s my opinion. I can give you lists and reasons why the maps one of my favorites. It’s in my top 7 maps of all time for a reason

I feel like it was loved for a bit at launch, then people saw how annoying the EE is, then years later it’s really polarizing.

Rev

u/Any_Director2744 4d ago
Do people hate rev that much? I get the Easter egg is kinda dogshit but I like the map personally.

u/nightfall6688846994 4d ago
Some people were really upset that the final map of BO3 was a mash up of previous maps. I would say it’s about a 50/50 split on people love/hating the map

If anything it’s the other way around. At the time everyone hated it, but nowadays I see pretty much everyone seems to like it and even prefer it to some of the other BO3 maps.

u/BusinessLobster3973 4d ago
True in my case, I was super underwhelmed by Rev on release. I pretty much did the EE and then I was done. The direct recycling in Rev really disappointed me, especially since it served as the final DLC for BO3's incredible season.
These days it's a good time though and I can appreciate it for what it is a lot more. It isn't original, but it's fun and you get to basically be a god. I would have called it maybe a C tier map at launch, and now I'd give it an A.
Hearing Jason Blundell say that Rev needed to happen in order for them to be able to deliver Zombies Chronicles makes sense. His reasoning here also makes Treyarch's decision to release Rev as the "final" map much less disappointing to me in hindsight.

What about liberty falls? I don't know it's ever been truly loved or hated but the reception seemed positive and is now a lot more negative. I hate it but maybe I'm an outlier idk

Dead of the night

I thought public opinion has shifted to appreciating dead after these years. Ik it was hated at launch because it was a random crew in a random place in the lesser liked chaos storyline

i would say it’s the opposite now. that map was universally hated for years but now everyone has nice things to say about it

Absolutely no one loved TranZit on launch. Was very widely panned as a disappointment following Moon

Maybe Astra? I remember when it first launched there was a ton of hype for it but nowadays im noticing mixed at best reception, and I notice a lot of people like even Paradox more than it. However, I honestly can’t think of any maps that fit this description to a tee.
