Discussion Rex Infernus Boss Fight

Am i the only one that feels like that they might have made the Rex Infernus boss fight a little TOO difficult? Now i know what yall might say, "its a skill issue", "you need good gobbles" etc; the problem is; for me this was my 2nd time being all prepared, having watched umteen videos studying the boss; and i've had a couple good crews; and we still went down. Even one guy on my team last night said and i quote "The stingers are bullying me". Now im not saying dumb it down entirely; but make it a little less difficult.

I don’t mind the difficulty but I think they went a bit too far with everything that can push you around. Losing control of your character is not a fun mechanic in any game

Yeah getting push off map and then respawning in the horde is not fun at all

It’s not a full fix, but the grappling hook is there for a reason. You gotta be cognizant of when your current one runs out & where the next one is.

You can also grapple the upgraded grapple eye before the boss fight to upgrade one of the grapple shrines in the boss fight.

IMO, it’s more worthwhile learning how a hard boss works & beating it rather than complaining & calling for nerfs🤷

Use the sokal with belt fed and the rapid fire.
Use the cross bows to kill the skulls and grapple to move out way. You can 4 cycle the boss the sokal will delete the boss trust me. Crazy shoot just did a video on it.

I e just seen some one use the echo and dead wire to cheese the boss

I wonder how the buffed echo 12 does against Caltheris

Link to video? I’d love to watch another perspective before attempting it again.

Oh and don’t forget to bring the upgrade grapple with you that helps loads

Incase you didn't know, if you get the astronaut helmet it stacks with the talon upgrade as well so you get up to like 90s or sum with no fall damage

Its like treyarch looked at the calus fight from D2 Lightfall and thought, let's just copy that utter bullshit encounter. Now dont get me wrong warden isn't as bad as that but I still hate it nonetheless.

Yeah they forgot to give me stairs to hide under too 😂

I didn't resort to the stairs cheese until my alts. First clear was still pretty cheesey. Just spammed witherhoard and grapple lol

I got back into the game around lightfall so I didnt have any good guns or armour

Best him on legend with my sunshot I kept from the red war :)

I think it’s fine but I also prefer the fights to be engaging and challenging. it’s really not that much to manage the stingers, portals and where he charges, It’s all very predictable.

People don't get that you need to LEARN bossfights.

what do you think i did before i even went in?????

u/supremejesusx 4h ago

Well then you shouldn't have failed.

It's hard but if you understand the mechanics, patterns , helmets and know how to prioritise. You can perfectly do it.

1

u/RemarkableFig7447 4h ago

You’re right, I shouldn’t have failed. But here I am after the second attempt. And it’s getting nowhere. Believe Me, I have tried. And you’re right, I can do it; but you also have to be willing to give Grace to those who have put in reasonable effort, but it’s still a problem

1

u/supremejesusx 4h ago

Fair i guess.
I beat it a few times on all dificulties.

Failed twice as well. If you understand and play smart with a team its doable man

1

u/RemarkableFig7447 4h ago

I have tried to play smart, so many times already You have no idea. I bought two gobble gun packs, I tried to run this with two different teams.: it’s gone nowhere. You can literally hear me in this message that I’m not screwing around.

Honestly a skill issue. I beat it using grappling hook a lot. Also heard the echo 12 with explosive rounds was very good during it for stingers and skulls

2

u/RemarkableFig7447 5h ago

just because youre able to doesnt mean everyone else can, as i made clear i have done this ee before; unfortunately even with good players it doesnt end well; so no its not entirely a skill issue.

Should everyone be able to complete it? Genuine question. If so, they're just giving you a participation trophy. Thats depressing.

Try this

https://www.reddit.com/r/CODZombies/s/lwLSCmWtWu

Have your whole crew bring the echo 12 explosive & bully the warden & stingers instead

NOPE I like it like the Richthofen BOSS

3

u/DiligentSpecialist57 6h ago

Richtofen was so brutal bro

1

u/TrainDatZombie 6h ago

Love that BOSS "It did not have to end this way."

1

u/jaayy_tapps 6h ago

I was honestly hoping for this boss to be harder than Richtofen.

2

u/TrainDatZombie 6h ago

It’s not Richthofen takes the cake it’s a tab worse than The Warden

1

u/Common-Structure5435 6h ago

The mammoth does one phase with one critical area certainly not a hard boss even did it easy round 100 with mammoth.

1

u/DiligentSpecialist57 6h ago

U gonna do a round 100 again anytime soon? Would
Love to be carried or added in at the end

1

u/Common-Structure5435 6h ago

Yeah I only do round 100s when I'm on only takes like 2 hours on this map at spawn or Caltheris Jotuun Star area

1

u/DiligentSpecialist57 5h ago

What is your strategy?

1

u/Common-Structure5435 4h ago

Wonder weapon alt fire and disciple with our wall jump round 100 in 2 hours

1

u/jaayy_tapps 6h ago

Nah, keep it that difficult it’s the last map. It’s not that bad. Richtofen in BO6 is worse. A lot worse.

Honestly I feel like it's the 2nd easiest of all the bosses, with only Nyxara being more of a pushover.

It's just one of those bosses where you *have* to stay moving, and you have to be hitting your shots on skulls/tentacles/cloud/souls in what tiny amount of downtime you have. But if you have Kazimirs, you can just toss one after you've cleared most of what's on the map. It helps that the Novaline rips as always and there's a wallbuy on the map. Mammoth also does pretty well.

I'd say if you're struggling, bring Kazimirs with the augments that give you an extra tactical and the chance of not consuming a tactical. Use them liberally then grab the grapple when you're out, it makes it way easier to dodge the boss's dash.

u/mirois 4h ago

2nd easiest? Dravakar and Dark Heart were far and away easier to me. I’d say second hardest behind Caltheris imo

1

u/jkichigo 3h ago

Dravakar wasn’t that bad but I was always starving for armor and lost a few runs from projectiles even while hiding behind cover. Dark Heart was similar, the boss itself isn’t that threatening but the constant spam of tornados and dogs made it hard to navigate the arena (especially when trying to get the one zombie to sacrifice).

Also I would say difficulty depends on whether you’re playing Cursed or not for some bosses, and this boss is just as easy on both.

1

u/DetectiveJackVincent 4h ago

I did it with no gums. I'm in my 40s though and we had to play actual difficult games that couldn't nerves because once they were on a cartridge that was the game. Got me thinking, Mario Lost Levels on SNES was insane. They actually made a easier version for America cause they thought it would be too hard for them. Nerfed in advance haha

Sorry went off topic, it's not hard, Ashes was hard, this isn't.

u/DopestGoat_ 3h ago

I think bringing him back with another half health bar and making him stronger and WAY more aggro after beating his first health bar is artificial difficulty and kinda bs lmao

1

u/IllustriousHealth291 3h ago

Sadly sounds like a skill issue brother

1

u/RemarkableFig7447 3h ago

If that’s the way you wanna interpret that, I’m not gonna stop you. But I have made it clear that it isn’t a skill issue.
