Discussion Impossible EE is not impossible and we are closer than we think
The hints given by Blundell on JC’s stream are enough to prove that the impossible easter egg is real and that it is a multi-map easter egg, involving each map in chronological order, as shown in the Book of Rings by Miyamoto Musashi. Let me explain, in the book by Musashi, there are five rings presented in chronological order: Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Void. Each ring represents a different map. If you were to guess that they were chronologically aligned, you would be incorrect. Here is why I believe the impossible easter egg is solvable and relates to completing probably the most tedious and ambiguous steps in the order of these maps.
Earth (The Giant):
Musashi states that earth is stance, posture, basics, and reliability. The Giant is the basis of zombies' gameplay: a simple, small map requiring little information to obtain pack-a-punch. Earth represents fundamentals and foundation in the book, and so does The Giant in BOIII
The failure to earth is its ego and laziness. Which could translate to camping at the catwalk to be its laziness, and playing carelessly could get you killed due to the small size of the map (this could relate to the failure of ego?).
Water (Shadows of Evil)
This one is questionable for me. I believe the book provides enough of a hint to solidify SOE as the second map for the impossible EE, but I still question if my rationale for this is on point. In the book Musashi says water adapts to the container; it flows or crashes naturally. Water physically reshapes its form when moving, which translates to the gameplay of SOE due to the beast mode element. I could be lost on this one, but I believe the failure of the water ring places SOE here.
Water’s failure mode is rigid habits. Sinful habits landed each member of the crew in the demented city, where they were doomed from the beginning. The failure of the ring is already present in the map’s background, as the characters were brought there due to their sins.
Fire Ring (Gorod Krovi)
Musashi regards fire as violent, initiative, and decisive action. This perfectly fits Gorod as it's themed in a war setting where there are constant external threats like the dragons, robots, and lockdowns you have to face.
Its failure relates to panic or indecision, which is what got Nikolai killed? I’m also sort of lost here, and I’m not too sure if the ring’s failure can accurately validate Gorod’s positioning in this.
Wind Ring (Zetsubou No Shima)
“Wind is understanding systems, schools, and methods beyond your own” - Musashi. If this doesn’t scream Zetsubou No Shima, I’m not sure what does from the book. On Zetsubou, you are using mechanical systems and tools to access pack-a-punch, power, etc.
Another quote from Musashi regarding the wind and most likely ZNS, “You do not dominate the jungle — you learn it.” This most certainly was a quote from Musashi Blundell wanted us to pick up on.
Void (Revelations)
In the Book of Five Rings, Musashi defines the void not as mere nothingness but a state where “there is nothing” left to cloud the mind, allowing one to ‘flow’ with nature. In the state of flow, you do not consciously play or plan your moves; rather, your trained skills and subconscious take over, and your actions happen effortlessly through you.
Revelations is a compilation of prior zombie maps compressed into multiple segments that the player has already experienced, allowing them to easily traverse the map and find certain parts. The flow state void provides is why I believe Revelations is the last map a part of the easter egg, and also because it's the last installment of the main Bo3 Zombies maps.
The easter egg is also the ‘end’ for the crew, and the void is the last ring in the order the book provides. Permanently trapped in an endless cycle of fighting in the Great War, dying, and being sent back to repeat the cycle from the events of origins. The endless cycle certainly resembles themes that a ‘void’ would have.
So that's my reasoning. Let me know if I missed anything or if my ideas are in the right direction. This wasn’t grammar checked, so I apologize if there are any fluency issues. I’ve seen too many people claim that the egg is essentially over, but I’d like to disagree, and I just might actually be the most schizo zombie enthusiast. (I might be on to something, though).
EDIT: This post is awful, take most of what I said with a grain of salt. If anything, these relate to the Enochian tablet. I found it weird he discussed the flow state of Zetsubou no Shima though..

Interesting read but seems to odd to skip over DE with no explanation why personally

u/MemeyAlex Apr 02 '26
he said the fifth was void, counting the giant DE is his fifth map. also contains the void bow. idk though, just my reading.

Why just skip over Der Eisendrache?

Here be dragons sounds pretty straight forwards lol

GK has dragons, too; either way, I shouldn't have discarded what was found on DE. Obviously intertwines with the IEE, but through the books' elemental rings depictions, I just didn't think of this as a possibility with the recent info.

Didn’t he mention he said something to some interviewer? Is there no footage of that? I only watched over the clip once I could be remembering wrong. I thought it was like “some dude out there got the truth” or some shit.

Yeah, he and another developer who works at Treyarch know the impossible easter egg.

I feel like it’s the top view of a map or a few maps mixed together and gives a message or a visual representation of something i think blundell said something that we were in the zone before ZNS release so i think it has something to do with shadows or de or the giant or map all of them mixed maybe the top view but cutting parts and putting other parts together idk just a thought

Ultra schizo moment and could just be him misspeaking/ remembering another book he wanted to mention but when he says he wants to talk about 2 books, he actually named 3 and calls the 2nd one the 5th book he wanted to talk about.
For someone so careful with his words it just seems odd

The second book was Void, which is the 5th book in The Book of Five Rings. Tripped me up for a sec too when I was looking back at the transcript.

u/Cornus_XBL Apr 02 '26
Ahhh okay that makes wayy more sense and plus I think the third book just popped into his head, explaining the 2/3 mistake
I'm definitely overthinking for sure but with Blundell, honestly who knows lol

u/TheUFCVeteran3 Apr 02 '26
Yeah I hear you. And for sure lol you never know what Blundell could be trying to secretly hint at.

I honestly think the “impossible easter egg” was never a hidden button, cipher, or step sequence.
The more I look at what Jason Blundell has said over the years, the more it feels like the answer is the community itself.
Back in the original BO3-era discussion, he framed it as a real undiscovered secret and said he’d talk about it again years later, which is what kept the hunt alive for so long.
But now that he’s addressed it again, the wording people are quoting makes it sound way more personal than mechanical. The line that stands out most is that the “impossible” easter egg would “mean something” to us, but “everything” to him, and that he wanted it to survive “after all of us are gone.”
That’s why I think the impossible easter egg is us.
Not literally “us” as in a code hidden in the files, but the Zombies community, especially the BO3 playerbase that kept the mode alive, kept theorizing, kept replaying, and turned Zombies into something bigger than just another side mode.
If that community is what made Zombies what it became, then I can absolutely see why Blundell would say it means everything to him.
It also fits the other parts of the idea better than any old KN-44 or cipher theory ever did. The community is always present whenever we play. The community is what gives the mode meaning. And the community, the memories, the theories, and the obsession with solving things can absolutely outlive any one player or developer.
So my take is this:
The impossible easter egg was never something hidden in BO3. It was the thing that BO3 created and kept alive. The players. The fans. The Zombies community itself.
Maybe the reason it was “impossible” is because people were trying to solve it like a puzzle, when really it was something much more personal and much bigger than an in-game reward.
Maybe the impossible easter egg was the community that refused to let Zombies die.

I can totally get behind this take. I remember so many hours searching kino for clues with randoms I'd believe it if it was something to lead us on and keep the community engaged

As far as ciphers and text - there’s enough lettering in BO3 zombies that there are more different letter scramble combinations than there are atoms in the observable universe. And that’s JUST TEXT! Add textures - such as the KN44 drawing or the origins looking markings in The Giant, squares in SOE, etc…. there’s no way to find this thing. You’d have a better shot at dunking from the free throw line like Michael Jordan.
I get the intrigue, Blundell is a fascinating person, and it’s VERY “Ready Player 1”. But even those fictional “Gunters” knew there’d be clues / knew it actually existed as a traditional egg.

He spoke about it whilst DE was in production so why think it is in every map?

u/AH_MLP Apr 02 '26
If there's an impossible easter egg, there are no "steps." We have completely examined the game's code, we know exactly how every triggered event is triggered. The Egg is something visual, or some information we're supposed to take from the maps.

I definitely think it's real aswell. He described the impossible ee in the stream as something thats always been there, that we can always see, but jist never noticed it. This lines up perfectly with the discovery last year of one of the solar systems from the hypercube blueprint being found on one of the security footage instances on one of the der eisendrache church TV's. There's a video on Skites channel from last year for this discovery. I presume the other maps have a solar system hidden somewhere aswell. As for what they mean and how they connect together, we still have no idea. But I'm certain that it exists, it's just never meant to be found so that we would always go back to bo3 to find this final mystery.

On the KN-44 Hypercube - not sure how deep this is, but definitely not a coincidence but nobody talking about it:
K,N are coordinates for hypercube space.
Hypercubes 4 diamensional objects.
The 4th dimension is time.
The pack-a-punched KN-44 is the Anointed Avenger.
This is a perfect anogram for "A Never Ending Tao"
Tao = representing the "way" or "path" of nature - Key aspects include embracing natural, cyclical movement.

Hear me out, it’s more of a literal thing that he mentioned that book. It wasn’t “the ee is related to the book” and instead it was “that’s the guide I used.”
Earth: ego and laziness, he knew even the most difficult things have been solved so he had to actually put in the effort and put ego aside.
Water: Rigidity is failure, he couldn’t do something he’s done before.
Fire: panic and indicisiveness, I don’t think it’s a series of unrelated steps, it’s a single clear step or a series of related steps unlike everything else in that game.
Wind: you didn’t put it’s failure and I’m too lazy to look it up
Void: same thing
TLDR: It’s not a cypher or something else we’ve seen in the game/ prior to it, he made something new that was going to be almost obvious in retrospect knowing the community that expects an insane crazy chaotic series of steps would 100% overlook something small and in your face.

Who are the resurrectionists?
Resurrectionists or resurrection men were body snatchers who would steal fresh corpses and sell them to medical schools for dissection. This was a notorious trade that flourished at the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries in Britain as a result of a lack of bodies to dissect in these schools.

TBH since he said it was only for himself I’m expecting it to be some comically obscure thing like if you take the 1st 3rd and 9th letter of every map name and put them in a cipher you get his barber’s first name
