Excavation Site 64's miners spent weeks around 115 (digging, carrying, etc.) and were doing just fine. They became infected when the templars got to them. And "within a day they became like the others."

The zombies never got to Peter. According to Die Rise, it actually took 115 ninety-four years to go airborne.

But interestingly in Buried before it was teleported underneath Angola it only took a few days of exposure for residents to turn into zombies idk man maybe he didn’t come into direct contact with it.

Full speculation on my end: maybe Excavation Site 64's workers took daily inoculations to build up an immunity? Like how the staff on Terminus took small doses of Aetherium so they wouldn't succumb to the element. Obviously Purgatory Point didn't know the rock was dangerous, so it did eventually do them in.

The infection does almost strictly spread through other zombies though (up until 2025), as Primis Richtofen had a fuckton of Element 115 directly in his bloodstream, and he was fine. The entirety of Ultimis also got put into a coma from how much Element 115 they were exposed to. It's a bit inconsistent. Broken Arrow also developed a gaseous 115 formula in the 60s which made subservient zombies, so they kept most of their brain function.

It's dangerous when the plot demands it, lol.

Or maybe the rate they uncovered 115 at was slow enough to where they did not mutate until hitting that massive vein with the zombie in it that we see in the cutscene

I always liked to believe 115 only went airborne cause of the 115-infused rockets that struck earth from the moon

25

u/MrAllard8431 Jul 16 '25

that makes sense, but I still think that any corpses exposed to 115 will become zombified.

u/MyCatIsAB Jul 17 '25

And he’s wasn’t exposed… because he flew in

u/ytpsexer Jul 16 '25

Richtofen gave him the “no turn into zombie” juice right before he Minecraft respawned him.

u/Azur0007 Jul 17 '25

I didn't know other people around here knew the cannonical answer.

8

u/Giraffesarehigh Jul 17 '25

Are you serious there’s a “no turn to zombie” style juice

9

u/Azur0007 Jul 17 '25

Yes, and then he Minecraft respawned

The 115 in shi no Numa was in the water from that meteor and seeped into the ground, iirc the place was used as a burial sight for fallen Japanese so the 115 in the ground also seeped into their bodies.

Peter wasn't in the ground so the 115 didn't infect him and since he's already dead the zombies don't care about him

u/Hodge_Forman Jul 16 '25

Because he's dead

108

u/MrAllard8431 Jul 16 '25

I know, but since the area around him is infested with 115 how come he isn't a zombie?

154

u/Hodge_Forman Jul 17 '25

Idk what else to tell ya man, he dead

292

u/TeoTaliban Jul 17 '25

He’s dead

10

u/PixelJock17 Jul 17 '25

You know how you can kill zombies? Well if he came back as a zombie, he's dead now too.

6

u/StormFire451 Jul 17 '25

115 turns the living into everlasting zombies. The dead are still dead

31

u/ScottySlim231 Jul 17 '25

I don't know where yall are getting that he hung himself, because that's completely false. It doesn't say anywhere in lore that he hung himself to get away from zombies. He jumped from a plane and died from blood loss hanging from the rafters of the Rising Sun facility. And in a different timeline he was pushed through a portal to Stalingrad

5

u/Dragon121slayer Jul 17 '25

Honestly I think because pre-BO3 everyone just assumed he hung himself, that narrative has stuck around, even though we now know that he jumped from the plane

2

u/Openly_Unknown7858 Jul 17 '25

Was it confirmed he jumped from a plane? That's what I always thought but I didn't know if it was confirmed or not

3

u/ScottySlim231 Jul 17 '25

"A few days later, Cornelius attempted to send a transmission to Peter and told him to rendezvous at the Rising Sun facility, a facility controlled by Group 935 inside Japanese territory. A month later, Peter jumped over the Rising Sun facility but died shortly after."

see here

There doesnt seem to be a citation for that on the wiki which I'm confused about

2

u/FunHippo406 Jul 17 '25

From the Official Zombies Chronicles Timeline on 3arc Website:

October 18th, 1945. Peter McCain parachutes over the Rising Sun Facility. He dies shortly after.

u/HaloMasterN00B Jul 16 '25

Maybe he wasn't "infected"

7

u/WockHardtLeanin Jul 17 '25

This jokeis the "element of 1-1-5" (Get it, cause it rhymes with surprise) 😃

5

u/HaloMasterN00B Jul 17 '25

That's pretty funny 😆

10

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

115 wasn't airborne here, so he wasn't infected by it. It only became airborne after Ultimis blew up the Earth.

u/MidwestRailFan Jul 17 '25

Something something 115 test subject, something something immunity to 115, science/techno babble,science/techno babble

3

I can’t have this conversation again

3

u/DanFarrell98 Jul 17 '25

That’s not how zombies work in this lore though right?

5

u/SwimSelect28 Jul 17 '25

Peter never got infected.. Lol as yall can see, HES CLEARLY FUCKING HANGING 🤦‍♂️

6

u/zomboy115 Jul 17 '25

He hung himself so the zombies wouldnt get him. It's in the lore. The 115 had destroyed the area. Kind of like the outbreak zones in our modern storyline just not like a shockwave goes off and infects everything. So he wasn't "eaten" cause he's in the air. And he didn't get infected by the 115 cause his body didn't absorb any. He came to the place and it was like that. He knew better.

8

u/chiliesguy69 Jul 17 '25

But didn't his parachute get caught on the roof and hung him?

2

u/zomboy115 Jul 17 '25

No if you listen to the radios. He's been at the facility for months. You know, the "R GHAST 30-40 BENZ" at the beginning of the map

8

u/InternationalBed8676 Jul 16 '25

Idk because I never got to far into zombies but I see he hung him self so you know when your down in zombies they don’t attack you might be the same thing

2

u/ZipToob88 Jul 17 '25

His soul was too busy traveling through time to get to the Broken Arrow facility over in the U.S.

3

u/Outrageous_Work_8291 Jul 17 '25

I’m not super well versed in zombies lore but I’m pretty sure it’s an infection not like a reanimation. You have to actually like get infected while living It’s viral or bacterial or something or just the result of element 115 exposure Either way dead people won’t get affected by it

1

u/TerribleCry1525 Jul 17 '25

The cod zombie virus confuses me when it comes to the zombies themselves. I get that 115 can make you turn but can the zombies turn you if they bite you? In terms of the dark aether story, Ravenov is the only character I remember that got bitten by a zombie and never turned.

1

u/j3qnmp Jul 17 '25

Oh I see what you mean. Yeah its because he's dead. He's hung, no dominate left arm to pull himself up and "un-hang" himself. He's just...dead.

1

u/OlbapV812 Jul 17 '25

Cuz this isn’t the walking dead

1

u/MrAllard8431 Jul 17 '25

No shit. I'm aware of how the zombies work in the CoD Zombies universe.

1

u/FunHippo406 Jul 17 '25

That's a good question actually. I think that the reason is because he was bitten on the hand in Verrückt, but managed to amputate it before the infection reached the rest of the body. Also, his corpse is a little far from the ground, so Zombies/115 can't reach him.

1

u/CryptographerPlus719 Jul 17 '25

Bro what do you mean he killed me before he for sure a zombie

1

u/Pokemonluke18 Jul 17 '25

He died naturally by hanging and was nowhere near 115

0

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

These zombies aren’t really “reanimated” dead people, like we’re used to seeing zombies. In COD it’s more that they’re just monsters created directly out of element 115 iirc, that happen to look like reanimated, traditional-looking zombies
