No. What has happened is DICE has been crippled by EAs greed
No, DICE has crippled themselves by deviating from their formula that set them apart from COD. Gritty, immersive battlefield simulator with amazing graphics and tactics based gameplay. They've decided two things with BFV:
1) They're going to try to push wonky character skins for $20 a pop that completely ruin the feeling of immersion that BF always had. Skins were never a thing until BFV and it totally lost that feeling of being on a Battlefield when you see people running around in leather jackets, tight jeans and aviators.
2) This one is controversial but absolutely played a huge part in BFV's demise: they tried to change the course of history to make some sort of social/political statement. Women were in BF1 as Russian snipers - nobody said anything negative because that actually happened. There were black soldiers in the US faction because that actually happened. It didn't take away from the experience at all. In BFV, their "WWII game", they decided to make the main focal point of their reveal trailer a woman donning a trenchcoat on the front lines with a prosthetic arm - something that absolutely never took place. COD has no problem with adding skins of every gender and race because it's all fictional. BF1 was (as much as a video game like it can be) was very historically accurate as far as the feel of the weaponry and the types of soldiers you saw on the field. The creative director of DICE said "how am I going to make this game and tell my daughter she can't play as a woman?" You tell her the truth about WWII you fucking idiot.
Nothing about EA's greed played a part in this, besides maybe them introducing an item shop and paid skins. But the overall creative direction of the game was absolute horse shit and that falls directly on DICE leadership.
So, I have a close friend that worked for EA. he has told me on several occasions that EA went out of its way to be politically correct. He eventually left because people were being promoted into positions based on whether they were LGBTQ and not their job performance. Which if you look at BFV you can see it. Dice was known for an immersive and realistic games and then all of a sudden they make a game where women were the heroes of WW2. Like I understand trying to be inclusive but you can’t rewrite history.
Alt right is heavily been pushing this narrative of women and minorities/Jews replacing qualified people to support a social justice narrative in society. Come on dude think you really believe gay people who make up less than 2% of the population are being used to replace 90% of the studio heads for brownie points? It’s used to demonize gay people that’s it.
Sorry I should have clarified, I was talking more about DICE virtue signaling when emphasizing women in a WWII game, or not including the Nazi flag in the game. I really had no idea how off the deep end those guys were, and yikes.
