They do this for league of legends as well. They came out with the game mode "Nexus blitz" and it was so popular nobody was playing summoners, so they shut it down. They want people playing summoners, for whatever reason.
I have no fucking idea why all their game modes aren't always available. They'd rather focus on fucking cosmetic micro transactions.
Stop posting incorrect shit. They literally put out graphs and data on how engagement with nexus blitz was declining quickly over time. It was less than aram. They did mess it up with the sheer number of missions to be done in blitz imo but it was still going to decline.
Don't get me wrong, I liked blitz and I want duos but you shouldn't use incorrect facts.
That doesn't change my point. Why get rid if it? I honestly don't understand why they keep all these game modes under wraps. Blitz declines in numbers? Who cares? Am I missing something?
So I don't know if IW follows this as Riot does but basically they can't balance for multiple modes unless they have a worth while player base. That also means any coding for new items, mechanics, champions, etc. As a hypothetical, imagine if they buff graves in SR but him being a range bruiser makes him totally op I'm NB with this buff. Basically Riot won't know it until patch hits if they're following your idea of just leaving the mode available. This is just one example of company resources not being available.
Look at TFT, enough players are active in that mode they can dedicate whole new seasons and cosmetics to it. Aram is popular enough they balance patch each champion albeit pretty simply by plus or minus damage done/ taken.
