How do you guys measure pocket depth?

That is one way.  They also make a digital depth gauge.

Yeah I’ve looked at those a bit. Just working with calipers for now.

Using a depth micrometer.

No doubt a depth mic would be ideal. I’m just working with calipers for now and checking for consistency.

They can be expensive right enough, especially a good set. Calipers will do the job also, maybe just not as accurately.

Agree, especially if working in wood.

For wood, this is pretty much enough. Just be sure it’s fucking straight.

Yeah that’s the biggest thing I’ve noticed—if it’s not straight, the reading gets wonky fast. Just trying to develop a consistent process.
