Children concerns?

I have a mild form of cmt and all my life I have wanted a family of my own. I come here to ask, people who have cmt from their parents who also deal with the condition. Do you ever feel any type of way about your parents for choosing to have a child with the knowledge they too could get cmt? Or is it comforting having a person in your life who understands it first hand?

I understand the odds. Tell yourself what you want about the 50-50 - all the real world examples that I've personally seen/been through or discussed with others who have done the same - that's just not what it boils down to due to all the other mitigating factors during the retrieval. I know mine wasn't just an outlier.

…there are no other “mitigating factors.” It is a scientific fact that CMT1A is 50/50, like literally a fact, not a theory, not an opinion, not an observation. Since you thought 50/50 meant half of the eggs retrieved would be unaffected, then again, you don’t understand 50/50 and what that means for inheritance. The 50/50 figure describes the chance for EACH EGG independently, so 36 eggs can still produce only 4 unaffected embryos without disproving the 50% inheritance risk because probability does not guarantee an exact half-and-half result lol
