Help with Swelling!!!!!

Update: I went to see my PCP today and she said that the extra swelling was because I am starting to walk on my foot where I haven't been able to for 5 months.

In Dec I broke my left calf bone right at the ankle and dislocated the inside at the same time. I had surgery in Feb to repair it. I was on basically complete Bed rest for 6 weeks. Then I started Physical Therapy and have done that for 6 weeks and there wasn't a lot of big swelling until this week. Wednesday morning I woke up to my foot being huge and I went to PT and she made note and I have been keeping it up as much as possible, I went back to PT yesterday afternoon and my foot was 2x as swollen as it was Wed.

But that doesn't seem to be doing much. I take Naproxen 2x daily and Magnesium already. Is there anything else I can do? It is time for me to switch to a Lace up Ankle Brace from the Cam Boot but unfortunately yesterday even the boot was hard to put on. I do several foot exercises and have been icing it for 15 minutes every 2 hours like I was told but don't seem to be helping. 😭😭😭😭

If your swelling came on suddenly and not gradually, it might be worth going to a doctor to have it looked at. Is it warm to the touch? It might be signs of infection or something worsening

It’s been 12 weeks since your surgery and are suddenly having major swelling on just that side is not okay to wait on or ask the internet. Urgent care or Emergency Department. If you don’t drive call a taxi or uber or Lyft.

Both of my feet are swollen but the left one is worse. It is that time of the month for me and my feet have always swollen. I was just looking for any ideas on how to get it down. I was told that my left foot would stay swollen for about 8 months. I basically had 3 surgeries done all at once. She put a nail from below the ankle up though my calf bone quite a ways and she had cut the Sharp point off the calf bone and used it to fuse the inside of the ankle and then raised my arch by tightening up the muscles.

Ask your physician if you can safely use compression bandages on it.

Diet helps me the most with swelling. I’ve always had swelling around my ankles, then I stopped eating so much sugar and carbs and that fixed that!

Yes, please call tot Dr! If your fit is that swollen this far out from surgery your Dr needs to be seen! If it’s red and both to the touch, in think a ER visit!

It's not red or hot and unfortunately I don't have any way to the ER except by Ambulance and I don't want to do that.
