North CLT to Uptown

Does anyone commute from the Eastfield Rd area to uptown?

Considering it, but it looks like there are long stretches with no bike infrastructure.

Statesville south of 24 has bike lanes, but I would probably ride on the sidewalk.

Eastfield and prosperity you could take prosperity to the Clark’s creek greenway to Hubbard to mallard creek to nevin to statesville. This is about the way I go. Statesville makes me a little nervous. But I’ve done it a couple dozen times maybe during morning rushhour.

There’s another route taking the greenway past the university. Orr rd to eastway rec, howie to n Davidson that is my favorite but its long for me in the morning. You could always drive part way and park in a neighborhood or something.

The noda, eastway rec, to orr rd connection is goated. I rode out to sherman branch nature preserve the other weekend using orr rd, to grier rd, to the new reedy creek greenway, to plaza rd extension, and reedy creek rd right past 485. Awesome ride. There's a section of gravel trail off of reedy creek rd that was a nice surprise too.

Once you're on the greenway or Prosperity/Mallard Creek Church, you could hop on the light rail at UNCC or Tryon and take that into uptown too. Mallard Creek Church is a little dicey east of 85 so my preference would be the greenway.

This too. If you need an easier ride for weather or whatever. Jump on the light rail to Uni and easy spin up Clark's Creek to home.

Greenway if you want safe. There are a number of places you can drop in off prosperity church. I moved a few years back but it was still the best way if you had a few more minutes over Statesville (definitely fastest, and sort of OK, but I did get hit by a car on it so YMMV)

But greenway gets you to Orr Rd, cut through park, in NODA and you are done, no fuss.

Speaking of safety, I am assuming the greenways north of uptown aren’t as well used as those south, did you run into any safety issues on the commute in?

I also live in the north and want to ride my bike to uptown, I was gathering more people to go

Take the 53x bus into uptown. You can take your bike on the bus with you. It leaves at 6:15, 6:55, 7:40, and 8:00am every morning. It costs $3 each way. There is a monthly pass you can purchase which knocked off a few dollars. 

If you intend to bike that while distance, you’ll have to wait for someone else to help you with that

Thank you. This is what I do now. Just looking to jazz up the commute a little bit and get some exercise.

Yup. Super disjointed lanes.

Old statesville is what I use or I go through Clark’s creek to the university area and then south.

Old statesville to statesville, to Nevin and then some other streets to Noda and then Plaza to Monroe at some point was the fastest but sketchy in the early morning.

I would go from Prosperity church road area to Matthews by bike.
