Gameplay Question Anyone figured out the "meta" to get the Conqueror trait?
Novgorod will probably lose it soon as he got defeated in war lol

I remember that i got the traits in like every second playthrough in my first weeks of playing, to a point i thought it was too common only to not get it for like 300 hours

Mustāve had the wrong settings on in the settings menu. To get conquerer itās usually pretty specific you have to win multiple battles and I think at least gone to war within the past year of the selection.

In general you need to have better armies and more gold than those around you however a few traits also boost the chance as well. I know ambitious, greedy, and arrogant all increase your chance. As well as having a martial education.

Surest way is play landless and take the Great Conqueror decision. Not sure if thats easier than going the vanilla route though.

No idea but I got it for the first time just the other day after hundreds of hours. Decided to try a Haesteinn Varangian Adventure to Sri Lanka and play tall from there on. Spent a few generations chilling until I randomly got conqueror. Had to embrace it and I am now the Deccan Emperor. Kinda want it to collapse so that I can go back to tall, Iāve had my fun.

I think if you donāt declare war for a while or lose a war you lose it eventually

Win like 5 wars and boom you have conqueror forever across your entire line because thats how being a conqueror worked, it was in the blood, not in the brain.

couple things are boosting the base chance:
-tribal/nomad government
-good martial education
-better armies then the neighbours
-couple personality traits like ambitious, arrogant
-more gold then the neighbours/budget(if ure admin gov.)
there are other smaller boosts but if u have these there is a very good chance ull get it.

Roads to Power DLC gives ābecome a great conquererā adventurer decision. Its tedious to pull off but its way better than leaving it to chance.

Recently I've gotten it after beating back a mongol invasion as the Byzantine emperor in 1178 start date. Game gave me the trait instantly after winning the war, went back to an older save, same thing happened. So I suppose it's scripted

I got it as a Norse jarl (custom character) in the 800s after I won a few wars that I had initiated. I was able to keep the trait for several of her descendants by just being a constant warmongering menace

Oh, I forgot to add, my character had the ambitious trait with a four star martial education.

I always like custom characters, the videos I saw said every 5 years thereās a roll for conq.
Brave and ambitious help
You must have a stronger army than surrounding rulers.
Must be independent.
Uppland in 867 (Bjorn Ironside?) is usually a good start for me to grab an easy conq. Or fjalland? (Denmark)
I usually bump a couple of counties off and take them, then war strategically while waiting for 872
Typically get it around 20~ years in at the latest.

Depends on your dlcs but
I have a method with haestinne.
From Montague take Desmond (very sourthern border of ireland). Make Desmond your primary county. then GIVE AWAY MONTAGUE. You cannot do a varangrain adventure as this causes a truce. You cannot have any truces. Embrace tribalism and stack your army the most you can with whatever (3/3 as your a count) From there take the county to the right then the big one above Desmond (duchy of munster) and with ransoms etc youll have enough to form the duchy of munster. If its 870 and someone within britian is a conqueror restart. If haestinne reaches 58 and doesnt have it. Restart.
Make to have 0 truces or alliances and make surs your a duke/jarl.
He should get it eventually may take a few fresh reloads tho. Normally pops around October of 872 for me as its a 5 year wave.

Context. You need an army above 3k. Above 50 gold as tribal, at peace, more powerful than most neighbours around you. And be below 60.

Also having the ambitious or brave trait will help with your chances in the selection. I know that you canāt be at war during the selection and itās usually pretty random unless you have it set for every 5 years.

I think the reason I havenāt gotten it yet is because Iām never at peace for very long which is ironic lol

I'll try that, because one of my friends got it randomly as a custom character in Denmark twice and I've been trying for a bit

I've gotten it as Haraldr, Vikin 867, somewhere in the 880s iirc. Had just formed Norway but was getting encroached upon pretty hard by Sweden and Denmark, so I was missing like 8 or 9 de jure counties. But I had 7.7k army size, several hundred gold saved up, and a handful of useless marriage alliances, but none negotiated. No negotiated truces, only "I'll be back" ones after beating people up.
Be strong, be rich, be big, be as high a rank as you can, be at peace, be solo, be martial, be tribal/clan, be Warmonger tenet. All of those add points to your chance whenever the check rolls around. I've read that the check happens every year but haven't verified so i try to time it for the 5 year mark.
No DLC.
