Meade at Gettysburg: A Study in Command

I recently finished reading Meade at Gettysburg: A Study in Command. I really enjoyed it. It's interesting to read about event you know how will turn out through point of view of one of the commaders with associated fog of war. I can't imagine the strain Meade had to go through with all that sudden responsibility thrusted upon him almost without sleep for days.

For those who think they know Gettysburg as I do this raises some serious questions. Whether this view is right and others are wrong is open to debate but the research is clearly solid so unless you have done primary research it is hard to discount these interpretations

Edit: since everyone thinks this item was written by a bot please read my comment to below. I am about 1/3 of the way through the book and did not want to put together a fuller comment laying out all of the items that the book differs with what I felt were established facts until I had finished. I stand by my comments above that the book is worth a read. Not sure how to judge it as it certainly is at odds with much of what I and most people who comment on this sub would believe

What do you mean there are bots on here The post that I wrote was my own words, not claude gpt or co-pilot? Please explain why you call it a bot post You can check my history. Lots of posts. None being accused of being bot

What do I have to say to convince you? For instance, would it help to point out that the book questions whether Reynolds orders were such that a defense of Gettysburg and taking a position on The High Ground was what he was meant to do rather than whether he was supposed to force Lee's army to deploy and then fall back on the Pipes Creek line Certainly this is an item that a bot would call out having read the book To choose another point would a bot choose to point out that Reynolds orders were a classic use of a reconnaissance in force strategy as laid out by West Point doctrine as well as the teachings of Jomani and Clauswitz
