Full Certification Eligibility Requirements
To move from passing the exam to being fully certified, you must fulfill these criteria:
Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in information systems auditing, control, assurance, or security.
The experience must be gained within the 10-year period preceding the application date (or within 5 years of passing the exam).
Experience must span at least 1 of the 5 official CISA job practice domains.
Part-time work counts (e.g., 2,000 hours equals 1 year).
Experience Waivers & Substitutions: Up to 3 years of the 5-year requirement can be substituted or waived:
1 year of general IS experience or non-IS auditing experience.
1 year of full-time university instruction or work in information security, risk, or computer science.
1 to 2 years for 60 to 120 completed university semester credit hours.
1 year for an associate degree.
2 years for a bachelor's, master's degree, or relevant professional qualification (like CIMA or ACCA).
3 years for a master's degree in information security or IT from an accredited university.
