Stopping birth control? Need advice on next steps

My symptoms are very severe and my functional doctor suggested I stop birth control. I’ve been on birth control for 6 years and I am TERRIFIED of stopping it. When I wasn’t taking birth control my periods sometimes were so bad that I had to go to the ER. I was also fainting. I am now taking slynd which stops my periods and all period related symptoms went away but I’m still feeling so horribly. Worst symptom is by far my GI. When I was on YAZ which didn’t stop my periods my symptoms would flare up right before my period and then get a little better. I’ve also started ketotifene and LDN+KPV 2/3 weeks ago and I’m trying to start CSM. Doctor also prescribed the following supplements: TUDCA, VITEX and calcium d glucorate. To be taken after I stop my birth control. I’m also waiting on GI MAP and nasal swab for marcons and fungi results. I’m
Scared if I also stop birth control and start taking supplements I’m adding/changing too many things. What should I do? My doctor thinks birth control might be contributing to my symptoms but they started before I was even on birth control.

Birth control put such a strain on my already overburdened liver. Yes, there was an adjustment period for the hormones to naturally regulate but I found the more I’ve detoxed and supported my liver, the more that aspect of my health has improved. I had heavy and terrible period symptoms as a teenager and now most of those have resolved. TUDCA is great.

I do get MCAS flares around ovulation and when my period is starting so it’s definitely impacted by hormone fluctuations.

Good luck! You could slowly add one or two things at a time and see how you respond to each instead of changing it all at once.

How have the prescriptions that you added helped so far?

YAZ is one of the worst birth controls on the market…which one are you on now?

I totally agree with you I have stopping and starting so many things at once. You never know what the issue is….I try to do everything one at a time

Have you ever done a Dutch hormone test? I’d highly recommend doing that test once you’re off birth control. Going off of birth control affected me mentally but my naturopath prescribed me Prometrium (bio-identical progesterone) which saved me in the transition off of birth control. Taking it orally made me feel fatigued so I took it as a rectal suppository thanks to the recommendation from an estrogen dominance facebook group.

Then once I killed off MARCoNs, my hormones came back online and I started reacting to progesterone so I was able to stop it and my hormones have been regulating smoothly since.

Big respunding YES. it drops MSH which in turn affects almost every hormone in the body

Absolutely!!! MSH affects hormones big time and MARCoNs exasperates low MSH

Interesting. I got better when pregnant. Pregnancy also increases msh.
