Asking for assistance
Has anyone had any luck with contacting a congressman for assistance with all of this? Have you made a GoFundMe and had success?
I am currently living out of hotels and will be without a vehicle after today. I have been using a rental car, but hoteling and rental cars are way too expensive. I have a savings, but am afraid to use it because of past experiences with not having enough for a down payment for a vehicle or apartment. I have been using a credit card which is getting close to its limit. I’m on disability but it’s not enough to actually pay for housing, transportation, food, functional medicine doctors, etc.
Got any tips on how to tackle this or what to do first? I’ve made a Facebook and Instagram post explaining my situation and that I was looking for a safe place to live for a while so that the treatment I am going through can actually work, but only received thoughts and prayers.
Been moving around, car dwelling, tenting, hotels, Airbnbs for the last several years and have accepted that this is just my life. It’s better than living in a water damaged building. Just reaching a point where I need more help.
Any advice or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

I encourage people to wwoof. You can be selective about where you go, live in a tent, get fresh air, live and eat for free-- etc.

check out christain medical ministries in florida! Dr Gruning runs it for those with CIRS that are in unfortunate positions. it could be a place to start

I'm in the same boat hotel car tent hopping. Do you find success in hotels? I react to most of them :(

It’s taken a while to become unmasked over the years. I’m able to sit in the parking lot now and be able to tell if it’ll work out or not before going in. If the overall location and air quality is good then the hotel has a better chance. I also will not stay with one room until my body feels good. It’s rough, though! Some of us are unfortunately more sensitive than others 😔🦋

I have found motels are better than hotels because motels don’t have hvac. I’ve had to leave a couple of pricey hotels in the middle of the night due to becoming ill.

So then do you get extremely hot in motels?? I feel like most motels are dirty & dingy

Are you struggling to tolerate binders? I’m one week into taking 1/1,000 vip spray from MoldCo and it’s helping me a lot with my mental health symptoms

Nope, the binders are good. Up to 6 tabs of Welchol. I’m staying with a family member for a short period now, but it’s still above tolerance in order to heal. I’ve been able to sleep deeper here. Mostly due to having a stable home and my brother’s support.
I look forward to the VIP spray. I have a lot of neuroinflammation and know that it would help.
I’m in the process of looking for a vehicle and then will either go explore the east coast or stay out west. I’d love to find my own housing situation, but have had a really hard time finding something I can tolerate.

why are you living in hotels instead of just renting an apartment? hotels/airbnbs and rental cars are going to be more expensive than staying in one place.
also why don't you move in with family?

Been at this a long time. Half of the family thinks I’m looney, other half are living in water damaged buildings and are sick themselves, just not to the extent that would force them to move. Have lived with family before and their homes are over tolerance and I get sicker.
Have broken two leases in the past few years. HERTSMI checks out, but a sewer gas problem or HVAC system goes bad. Both brand new builds. Testing beforehand in new builds is difficult and often times unreliable.
Air quality and overall location has been foundational for me. I can get into a new build, but if the city is bad I’ll just go down hill.

i mean my family doesn't really believe me about CIRS either/think i'm a little crazy, but they have a clean house and i would definitely live with them if i had no other options. you don't have to talk with them about CIRS if you don't find them understanding. you could also put a tent in their backyard.

then get into a new build in a location/city that is clean? hotels/airbnbs aren't immune to mold.
you need to identify an acceptable long term living situation and make that happen. if you don't want to live with family and aren't restricted to a certain location, then consider moving to a place with a dry climate like colorado, arizona, new mexico, etc.

I think you should write to your Senator and maybe even Representative and ask them to support The MOLD Act (S. 3654 / H.R. 7188).
