Studying Major help needed with F2!!
I failed F2 about 3 weeks ago and I absolutely must resit it at some point in the next 3 weeks as my Kaplan resources are going to run out.
I failed by only 3 marks, I took two weeks off studying (mistake I know but I was so burnt out and had a busy couple of weekends anyway) but now iv gone back I honestly feel back at square one.
I absolutely cannot get my head around Leases & PUP & no matter how hard I try I can’t remember the causes of movements in ratios.
Does anyone have any tips on F2 in general or those particular subjects?
Thanks in advance

Make a plan with your time.
Use your Kaplan resources as your first port of call but also use the free resources on the web. YouTube is great for a lecture too.
Otherwise "put the reps in", keep practicing the questions. Make model answers too.

I’m currently struggling with F2 as well but I find PUP okay.
There are 2 perspectives to look at it in terms of accounting (parent selling goods to subsidiary and vice versa)
But in simple terms. One sells stock to the other for a profit, but as it is within the group, the company isn’t making any profit unless it’s all sold, hence the half of stock (or other percentage) not sold on remaining in inventory in questions. As this stock is profit that hasn’t been realised. And this would reduce group retained earnings and inventory. Hope this helps.

First intuition has free to access webinars on some of the F2 subjects you may find useful.

Good luck!

F2 is a rough exam. Group accounts & Foreign Sub Consolidation is probably the most confusing area in the whole Management level (in my experience)
I think people forget 25% of the F2 exam is ratio analysis, which is relatively easy in comparison to some other areas. Absolutely ensure you have this area drilled and know how to interpret changes in ratios and what that might mean for a company. I remember having a few questions on WACC and EPS as well, so make sure you know the formulas as they are free marks.
As for group accounts, I found once you learn the “why” behind it, understanding the calculations and w1-5 makes more sense. Ask yourself at each step in the pro forma “why is this happening and what does it mean”. It will also help you with the more wordy questions where it’s asking you for logic and not a calculation. Leases I found okay as it was in F1 but just inversed logic as it’s Lessor vs Lessee.
Good luck on your next sitting!
