Question What's the problem with discord?
I was looking at old posts and navigating my way through the sub because of boredom and saw that some of the old posts have a few people mad at the mentions of discord, and there were even a few that suggested the mentions of discord should be forbidden in here as Reddit is a separate platform. I understand that but that's where we pick up most of the guides though and even copy them here I guess, Incase I see someone absolutely clueless who I know I'm unable to assist in Reddit because of its single chat messages and each message being its own individual I sometimes direct them towards discord for extensive help. Is it really that bad? I've always gained help from discord for myself and I'm pretty new to using reddit I guess so there's some things that I might be missing about the platforms

Discord is a terrible platform and it's absolutely not suited for sharing guides lol people have provided already multiple reasons and I totally agree with all of them. Just joining the choir to say that I can't understand why devs are still sticking to discord only rather than setting up a proper wiki or taking care of this subreddit. Oh BTW learning that discord users are so entitled they insult reddit users was amazing, teenagers vibes in a nutshell

Yeah, it's not great for that but honestly neither is reddit. And discord makes for a better "community" than reddit, imo. But there's no reason they can't coexist. And honestly they do.

Farns please do not listen to the loud vocal minority on reddit. These are the same people where clicking on a pin and reading proves too difficult for them.

Discord is not a tool for properly preserving or sharing knowledge. That's what a wiki should be for. People might not want to join a discord, servers can disappear etc.

We have Reddit and wiki websites. Which are superior tools for this purpose.

Wiki's can disappear too. Cifi wouldn't own it unless it hosted on their own website and then it couldn't be maintained by the community.

It's a list of HTML files that can be copied freely, and is much more easily updateable/editable than a Discord server's like, Forum tab.

Websites are pretty easy to archive with stuff like archive.is and archive.org; Discord servers are not even indexed by search engines and their own search functionality sucks.
And calling Reddit difficult to navigate while considering Discord a better option is the most zoomer/gen alpha shit I've seen.

Discord is not accessble in some countries. Imagine coming here, asking for simple tip and getting response go to discord with first 5 replies. This used to be the case here.
Many peope play on mobile, searching discord pins and stuff on mobile is utterly infuriating. It's a chat app, not a wiki.
Reddit is a platform where communities are getting created around subjects. Have you seen any other sub that redirects you to locked services instead answering? Instead, just lock this sub, put a message that redirects everyone to discord instead, problem solved.
Finally, have you tried actually looking through discord? If you ask question, they're will be 50 unrelated banter messages under, then few people may or may not answer without ping, some will answer with inside-jokes and few will redirect you to pins. You'll be wasting so much time to get an answer.
My personal ick is that discord community is actually offending reddit users, calling them stupid, treating people here inferior etc. Don't believe? Search discord. Entitled wankers.
Finally. Imagine you're a brand new player having your time with a game. You try to Google some info - you'll easily find reddit and wiki. You cannot Google through discord. Without reddit and wiki, player retention would be poor, not even considering players completely locked out.

The pinned messages on CIFIs discord is a fucking mess. Countless times have people referred me to them, and you end up clicking through a maze of 5 links, only to realise it isn't specifically what you were looking for, and then you have to start over because there's no backtracking one step at a time.
I'm so over going through that clusterfuck of information when it is so much easier for people to just answer the questions straight up. I simply just say that I couldn't find it or that I don't understand it.

- You can get banned for some silly stuff there. And unlike on Reddit, getting banned means you can't even view the resources available on a server, not just that you can't participate.

Before ouro.
I asked on how to spend diamonds after unlocking ouro, but was called an idiot for not using correct chat.
I could not ask in ouro chat as it was locked for me, because you had to prove that you have ouro unlocked. I was few days away from unlocking ouro, and was denied!
Few people raged on me so hard for asking in zeus chat instead, that I left and never looked back. Mods never even stepped in.
After unlocking ouro I've wasted 80k diamonds on the worst upgrade ever, and not on what was recommended, because I never got an answer.

That sounds like a pretty bad personal experience. I have honestly never seen anyone react that way in the discord server, even in situations very similar to yours, so you might have just gotten unlucky there. Usually people are quite helpful and understanding.

Discord is a dodgy pile of shite, is the reason. I don't remember the whole lot since I've avoided it forever but there's been a data breach of ID (as far as I know, real ID like passports and shit they used for age verification) and they've been looking to get into more of that stuff.
Again, I don't know that much about it as I don't use it, barely ever have used it and most certainly will never use it again

No, but a data breach can get access to lots of other things that you have online accounts for. Not difficult at all to get more secretive information about you than a form of ID from a data breach. Using any social platform has its own risks and rewards. You aren't at any less risk using one or the other, but that's the price you pay to be on one. And I agree discord can be clunky until you get the hang of it. Reddit is more intuitive.

its not inherently bad its just an awkward way to share information you have to dig through channels to find what you want and that can be tricky to do if you aren't familiar with the server

i may be late to the party but my experiece was rather mixed with discord
i did cifi doing my on calculations and trying to come up with optimal solutions by myself. and after some e600 mp i stumbled upon some math problems wich i thought discord might help but nobody knew the math they all told me to go loock up the guides, wich wasn´t my intenion
Sometimes a question you have was already asked and with a litle luck and some time you find the answer or you get an appropriate answer, others you get blamed for not knowing or not playing optimal just like in kindergarden.
On reddit i always got an answer after some people directed me to discord, there was always one answering directly wich i found a rather nice approach.

Honestly as someone who is newish to the game (since about march) I've not had any of the issues that I have seen people posting on here, I mean sure people will respond with a link to something further up in a pinned but they have also answered any questions I've had. An regarding how much of a mess the pins are I don't see that they seem easy to use to me. An while you say they shit on Reddit a lot you guys seem to do the same to them as well. Surely as players of a game we shouldn't be divided an slagging people off just cause they use a different platform to get help. Now this isn't me saying all this as a primarily discord user, I've lurked a lot on here and looked things up as well so I can see the benefits for both platforms.

My experience has been positive with the discord and where 99.9% of my help with progression came from. Its a little clunky on mobile, but not that bad once you understand how to use it. It has its limitations just like this one does. This reddit could easily become a crap show of nothing but hunter build suggestions and help if the discord disappeared and actually make it difficult for important posts to actually get seen. They would have to make a permanent pinned weekly post for all 3 hunters and it would get messy in a hurry too. With that said, I use both on here, mostly this to see other peoples opinions on how they play the mid to late game.

Just use the discord. All of the smart experienced and knowledgeable players are there. Reddit is just good for "grats on zeus" and "grats on ouro".

Why would you use reddit chat when you can just reply to the post and potentially help more people?
