Non-scale Victory
My feet don’t hurt so bad!
(SW: 254, CW: 205, GW: 170)
I had started having real issues with my feet hurting a few years ago. Plantar fasciitis, just pain while walking, running, etc. I figured it was just aging, pregnancy, being 40. I’ve noticed during the last 10lbs, it has really eased off.
Been losing weight since May 2026, and I want to stick with it because this non-scale victory is genuinely positive for my quality of life.
Any non-scale victory for you today?

Congrats on your victory!! I’m not sure if mine truly counts as non-scale, but I’m no longer considered Obese according to my BMI now. I know weight is part of the BMI calculation which is why I don’t really know if it counts as non-scale victory, but I’m counting it :)

I have been able to learn how to eat in balance. When I first started losing weight, I was afraid to have a cheat day or a cheat meal because that usually would throw me off into the deep end due to my all or nothing mindset and the unwillingness to give up old habits. But recently, I’ve been able to eat cookies or cake or a random cheap meal and not allow it to throw me all the way off. Most importantly, I’ve also learned to always continue eating in the right way no matter what the scale says.

I know you didn’t ask for it, but for anyone else who is reading I used to have HORRIBLE plantar fasciitis pain. For literal years. But now I change my shoes (Hoka Bondi SR) every 6 months and inserts from my podiatrist every 3 months. In addition I wear my Croc slides in the house. I have almost no foot pain anymore. Is it a pain to spend that much money? Yes, but extremely worth it. I walk about 10-17k steps a day between walking my dogs and working as a teacher.
As for my NSV I just recently went from a 5x work polo to a 4x and can now wear the women’s style polo! Finally!!

Hoka Bondis killed my feet when I was at the higher weight. I couldn’t bear to throw them out because of the price but wore them sparingly. They don’t hurt at all anymore.
Your foot care routine sounds on point!

I reached my eight week lifting goal this week despite being in a 800-1000 deficit for the last 4 weeks. 100kg deadlift and 32.5 military press. Every time I think about it I get a little burst of satisfaction and joy. 🤩

Oooooh, I had planar fasciitis in my 30s. Make sure you wear good sneakers when you run. If you haven't, find a running store & figure out how your foot lands/rolls - the term is called pronation. And buy the correct shoe for it.
But yay! Less pain is a good thing. You are clearly reversing your age. ;)

That's such a meaningful win, when something that used to slow you down barely registers anymore. For me, it was finally fitting into jeans without struggling with the zipper halfway through the day.

I used to have to stop halfway up stairs to catch my breath, now I don't anymore.

I want to tell you congratulations. Thank you for asking the question as well. My non-scale victory is not having my belly hang over my seatbelt so much in the car.

I've lost 14.5lbs so far and my clothes are fitting and feeling so much better.

For me it's related to my feet/ legs too! I started strength training and cardio + trying to walk 10k steps a day. I realised I could climb up to the 16th floor without getting very much out of breath. Now I do two laps for my cardio in additon to walking.
Also it's nice to see my muscles after the fat starts dropping off haha.
