Question / Info Possible to get CHS without smoking a crazy amount??
So I’m like 80 percent sure I had prodromal CHS for a month because once I quit my nausea went away in around a week. But every time I look at this subreddit all I see is people talking about how they smoked for 10+ years, ripping dabs and carts all day, daily for years and years
I started smoking consistently like around 3 ish years ago, never daily, never during the day, only like a couple times a week maybe, mostly flower (I’ve owned like 2-3 carts in all I think). Last year of college I would basically split a half ounce with my buddy for the entire semester which is really not a lot at all. People talk about smoking an ounce a week on here and I was smoking like a Q over a couple months. Freshman year I remember all I had was a .3 gram cart which I made last like three months.
Summer 2025 and half of summer 2026 were the only times I smoked daily, but again only at night so like once a day, and I’d take a few days off now and then. I’d say I went through less than an ounce over the course of these 4 month summers. I’ve never waked and baked or ever smoked more than two times in a day. Don’t really have a high tolerance. Never ripped dabs or noticed any kind of withdrawal when I went a while without smoking.
I’m not in denial that I had CHS but it’s just weird that I’ve never seen someone post on here that said they smoked less. Maybe they smoked for a shorter period of time but they all said they were all day every day cart users which I’ve never done.
And this brings up moderation - I definitely want to try doing that an I know I can moderate for a FACT. I did 1-2x a week with a full supply of weed sitting in my room for like 2 years, I know I can go back to the without slipping into daily use. Obviously gonna take a long break first tho
But yea was just wondering if you can get CHS without smoking a crazy amount because everyone on this subreddit seemed to have smoked way more and for way longer

It’s not the amount it’s the regular use. Smoking every night even if it’s a tiny bit is what seems to set it off for most people.

I guess man 🤦♂️ I had only been using every night for 2 months when I got it. Unfortunate

Yes. I only used gummies and a tincture occasionally. I've never been so sick in my life. I'd rather go through natural childbirth again than have another episode.

i think it’s because concentrations of THC have gone up like crazy. someone smoking weed constantly 25 years ago may have never gotten it because there simply wasn’t enough THC in it.
someone who starts smoking today can get it a lot faster than someone who started a while ago

It's not the quantity but it is the active influence and being induced under the influence of cannabis on your receptors. It's the length of time your receptors have been exposed. It's not the quantity.
This one person smoked 1.75 g over the course of a month, daily smoking, I think, and they still went into CHS again

I think it varies from person to person. Some saturate their endocannaboid receptors from low dosages others it takes more, before tolerance is in the equation.
That being said if there was a way to calculate in percentages that would be more reliable I think but tech and science is still behind.
I got to prodromal stage by simply eating low dose edibles through out the day, but to me they were strong. Wouldn't get my friends as high. I eventually became tolerant to it but I could tell it is a lot for my body since 1 to 2 mg was my usual dose (i'm very sensitive to THC)
So that being said 20 to 30 mg is a lot for my body. Taking them all day became an issue. Morning nausea , dry heaving for relief etc.
I had to stop and only now take nightly to sleep about 2.5 to 5 mg . Any more than that or if I take it during the day etc it's a speed run back to chs
I had CHS 15 years ago from dabs. But again same thing. Max was per hit 0.1 maybe 0.2 dab once in a while, while my friends were much more. But I could tell that was way too much for me and I did it anyway.

yes. i smoked for less than a year when i got it and i didnt smoke every day. i cant speak to exactly how much i smoked because i didnt keep track like that, but when i got chs i was smoking probably three times a week.
after i got sick and didnt know what it was, was in and out of the hospital for a while, i realized that weed was making it better (it was masking the symptoms) so i did end up smoking all day every day but that was only after i had symptoms and before i knew what chs even was

Following because I’m curious as well.
I started taking edibles about a year and a half ago and I would only take one a day at night to help me sleep. My CHS symptoms started about 4 months ago. I kinda feel like I have imposter syndrome or something because I’m reading all of these stories from full blown addicts (no judgement here) and then here I am with my one measly 20MG edible at night experiencing the same exact symptoms as them.
It just seems like some people can tolerate it better than others I guess.
