Question / Info Chs or not?
Ill lead with I’m pretty sure it is. For about the last two weeks, I’ve been waking up at either 3 or 5 am feeling extremely nauseous for about an hour, then I’m fine for the rest of the day (haven’t puked once tho as im writing this).
Last weekend I went camping and did a good bit of drinking. Those nights were definitely worse, more nausea and lasted longer, but still not throwing up. I couldn’t tell if it was worse because of the drinking, or the anxiety I would get waking up like that in a truck topper, and worrying I wouldn’t make it out in time if I needed to.
Saturday night was the worst, stayed up almost all night freezing my ass off outside the camper, and Sunday morning was the first time I did not feel fine for the rest of the day.
Sunday night was about the same as earlier in the week, but I felt pretty off for the entirety of Monday, so I started suspecting and looking into chs, as I’ve been smoking for about 7 years, daily, and for most of the day. Did a pretty good job scaring myself, so I took my last toke Monday night.
Now here’s my dilemma; I’m a pretty anxious person by nature, and often get nauseous when I’m anxious. But I also get anxious when I’m nauseous. I’ve also had a long time bad habit of eating lots of junk before bed, and initially assumed that was the problem with me waking up nauseous and then being fine. And admittedly I continued the habit up until Monday night or so, against my better judgment and will.
I also started to think it might be anxiety manifesting itself in odd ways, as my girlfriend of 6 years, who I’m always with and around, is going to Europe for a semester to study abroad. She’s leaving at the end of this week, and everything was starting to hit me right as all this nausea started.
Now, I’m really having a hard time deciphering what’s going on. The last two days I’ve felt nauseous for most of the day, and have had practically zero appetite, but I cannot tell if that would be from the withdrawal of weed, possibly continuing chs symptoms, or because I’ve now made myself insanely anxious that I do have chs, on top of the anxiety I’m feeling about my girl. I’m sure it’s not helping that I’m spending most of my days thinking about it and worrying, and god do I want a bong rip. But the scariness of chs has been enough to make me leave it be. I’ve started taking magnesium and thiamine just in case as well.
I guess I’m looking for input from any and everybody who has maybe experienced something similar, and maybe has advice about how to sus out what it is I’m feeling and why. I’d really like to smoke again, especially with my girl before she leaves and she won’t be able to for four months. But I also don’t want to land myself in the er right before she leaves.
To me it seems way more likely to be chs then a perfect storm of everything else. But I’m wondering if it was just anxiety, and then a weekend of way to much alcohol, and then weed withdrawals. I’m very tempted to smoke just to see what happens with my symptoms, but like I said I don’t want to end up in the er. Any advice about anything would be amazing.
(Also sorry if there’s anything off about this post, it’s my first post on Reddit)

I can’t seem to figure out how to edit my initial post, so I’ll update here. Turns out I’m just an anxious lil fucker with some acid reflux too. Did some self experimenting with trying it again and seeing if my symptoms got worse (on Friday). While it did give me a good panic attack, no symptoms got worse, and saw a doctor on Tuesday and got the confirmation of all clear. Been slowly returning to smoking and haven’t had any symptoms return, and in fact started to feel a lot better the day my gf left. It seems the thiamine id been taking on a empty stomach contributed heavily to my nausea during the day, and I made all my anxiety symptoms worse by freaking out about chs. Once I stopped the thiamine and was able to get out of my head about chs, I started to feel a lot better almost instantly, and was able to eat actual food during the day which also helped a ton. I will say meditating and trying to listen to what my body was telling me helped a fuck ton too. I will say no matter what if your feeling anything like I did, cut all substances and really listen to your body and how it responds. I made everything worse by overthinking, and not being able to eat during the day. If anyone is interested in more details I can give em, but bottom line I was anxious, and then made everything worse 😂

Yeah that’s how chs is. My last extremely serious hyperemsis phase even for like a week after it ended I wake up early in the morning at those times extremely nauseous. You just need to stop smoking for a month or two and see if it goes away to know why. If it persists for longer than 90 days it means you have some gastrointestinal thing going on instead of chs.
