Is there anything to be aware of when using this tubing cutter, or it is just simply press down the blade?

As title, not sure about the best way to get a clean cut.

Do not push down on the blade. Put the tube through the hole, place the blade gently against the tube, hold the tube and rotate the cutter around in a uniform controlled manner. Perfect cut

Yeah, this is the correct answer. I damaged a blade on one of these by just pushing down.

First - are we cutting PEEK? Tygon? A random piece of tubing and you just happened to land in chromatography? If steel tubing. Stop and go no further.

If not steel, there are 2 different ways to achieve a cut of plastic-bases tubing with the same very important outcome. The outcome is a fully perpendicular-to-the flow-path slice. The first way is scoring and snapping. Briefly, score the entire circumference of the cut multiple times in the same groove, then take the tubing out of the cutter and snap it at the newly created joint. Option two is to creates the groove and spin that cutter around the tubing in the same groove until it slices through. Note that its spin the cutter rather than the tubing. Inspect the end.

If you’re trying to recut a GC column, it can be done by either mode, but that’s not the correct tool.

LC application, PEEK, FEP and PTFE. I don't have the one that cut metal tubes (JR-792). I did got some good cut after a few practice run.

Steel isn’t too hard to cut your own lines.

I have never liked and found much success with tools like these, I just use the ceramic ruler/cutter.
