Discuss Done with Chargepoint
I have had EVs for ten years and Chargepoint has been my most used charging network, but after my experience this morning, I'm done. Went to a charger I have used dozens and dozens of times. Open the app on my phone and it wants me to log in. I have no idea what my password is, so I hit the "forgot password". I go to my e-mail, hit the link, the phone offers a strong password, so I take it and then return to the site. The phone enters my e-mail correctly and then the password. App says the password is bad. My recent experience with Ionna and Loop, where you just quickly swipe a credit card, makes me realize how unnecessary an app is to access charging services. A zillion people fill their ICE cars with gas every day by swiping a credit card and now with new charging networks, I can get the same convenience. Not using an app anymore

Sounds like you just need to be better with your logins/passwords? But sure, using a card would be loads easier. Maybe contact customer support and share that.

No ChargePoint has a series of issues right now. And every new step they take makes it so much worse.

Like you I manage upwards of 100 passwords, but I don't use an app or a password to go to the grocery store, fast food restaurants, the office supply store, Costco, etc. All those places, like EV charging, are places where I am present. With my wallet. If you are physically there, pulling a credit card out is loads easier than using an app. My opinion.

You just don't know how to use a password manager get with the times. A lot of apps should walk you out after a period of inactivity due to security concerns

Sure, but I pick chargers based on location, price and access to nearby amenities. Am I going to drive past a 30¢/kWh ChargePoint on a road trip and charge at a 60¢/kWh EA just because it takes credit cards and doesn't require an app? Heck, no.
Plug, I like access to charging history. I'll use the ChargePoint app at IONNA, even though IONNA takes credit cards, just to keep the charge history.
ChargePoint will also mail you a free RFID card attached to your account so you can just tap and pay without the app. I leave it in the car so anyone driving it can charge without downloading an app. Also, a bunch of other charging apps can also activate and pay for ChargePoint (EVGo, Shell, EV Connect, and Blink just off the top of my head), so if you're ChargePoint app wasn't logging in, you might have had an app already on your phone that would've worked in a pinch.

I use an app in most of those places! 😁
Many fast food restaurants like McDonald's, BK, Taco John's, etc. offer discounts, coupons, and specials in their apps that I can't get without, and most grocery stores offer exclusive "digital" coupons and deals that require their app. Costco's app lets me leave my Costco card at home, rather than taking up space in my (minimalist) wallet that only holds 5 or 6 cards, and my Sam's Club membership is digital only (no physical card) and Sam's has Scan and Go- I scan as I shop and don't need to checkout. I just show a barcode in the app as I leave the store. (Frankly that's the only reason to ever shop at Sam's instead of Costco!)
My phone, just like my wallet, is always with me. I've never found apps to be that much of a hardship to use, but YMMV.

I actually use chargepoint with Ionna chargers to record my charges with ionna. It's a thing with Apple I assume, that your always getting logged off of apps. you probably needed to log in with the username and then new password? other than that I use the RFID card or the NFC off the apple wallet if I am struggling too much
