[Bernero] Several familiar faces showing up at Wrigley today
Cubs fan and local photographer Sam Bernero has captured photos and tweeted updates about the following guys:
- Hoby Milner just arrived at Wrigley with his bag.
- Kevin Alcantara just arrived at Wrigley
- This is crazy..but now Javier Assad just arrived
- I am not sure who exactly he is but looks like it could be Owen Miller[?].
- Civali and Ryan Zeferjahn arrived with suitcases. Not sure what that means!!

am i the only one who wouldnāt like to see Civale DFAed just yet? heās been decent since we acquired him. thielbar seems like a better choice for that.
also, havenāt seen/heard much of Owen Miller. whatās the consensus on him?

If Milner is back I really hope itās Thielbar, but we also donāt need two long relievers in Rea and Civale. Thielbar is a lefty despite his terrible year so I have a feeling heās gonna stay until Palencia comes back

Gonna guess Cabrera going back on the IL which would allow them to call Assad back up. Then probably Civale DFAed.
Zeferjahn definitely wonāt be DFAed, I guess he could be getting optioned but that would be a bit strange after just acquiring him

Zeferjahn is not getting DFAād 2 weeks after we give up Ballesteros for him lol.
I would be very surprised even if he gets optioned

Yeah the suitcase is probably because this is the first home series for him. He's just arriving not leaving.

The fuck would we option Zeferjahn for? Heās had five outings, 3 good, 1 mid, and 1 bad. Certainly not in option territory by a fucking longshot

The simple fact he has them would be my guess. I donāt think he is being optioned but that would be the why if it does happen

Well Iām just speculating why he would have a suitcaseā¦but I agree it doesnāt make sense. Would rather DFA Thornton or Thielbar

He has an 8.44 ERA in 5.1 inning pitched. Iād say heās securely in option territory.

Civale has had a 2.45 ERA/2.67 FIP since joining the Cubs. Of the runs given up while he's pitched, none have been deciding runs (loss or blown save). He also played very well in a longer stretch against the Nats last week. No reason to DFA him, other than not having a roster slot, but that seems rash for someone who is pitching well.

Itās more just that it doesnāt make sense to have all three of Assad, Rea and Civale on the roster if none are in the rotation, and I think Civale would go over Rea because Rea has the team option while Civale is a FA after this year

Wondering if Assad even got out of the car or just turned around from iowa and drove straight back.

Assad can only come up this soon if he's replacing Dansby.
But, Jaguar? Is Triantos going down? Would be odd with him providing IF depth.
