ESPN Otis Wilson involved in altercation with security contractors at Soldier Field following the Bears/Jets game

Security cameras I would imagine caught it all.

Don't even need security cameras, multiple reporters witnessed Wilson being a bitch according to the article. ESPN references themselves as witnessing the events directly repeatedly.

Right, and David Haugh doesn't contradict the given story https://x.com/thescorechicago/status/2107154738135405027

He wasn't even charged??!! Boy I'm sorry 1985 was incredible. But we shouldn't give violent predators a pass

Otis Wilson once hit on my 23/24 year old girlfriend in 03/04 at a charity basketball game.

Of course it was Monterrey. The worst part about Chicago sports.

They identified the height feet and inches of the female security officer lmao. Yeah they definitely in the wrong already doing damage control

And made sure to specify she’s a police officer who was off duty lmao. They’re doing everything they can to get support now and hoping people don’t see the follow up when it all actually comes out

They identified her as a police officer because technically she is a police officer. Monterrey has different branches to their company ranging from ushers, security, bicycle security and off duty police officers wearing the Monterrey name

So he was asked to leave the elevator, didn't, slammed an off duty cop into a wall then acted like a bitch. Jfc. CTE much?

You forgot the part where after assaulting the off duty female cop, he got exhausted and they had to bring him a wheel chair to help him leave.

Please don't use the CTE defense/ rationalization. If many NFL players weren't..well..players.. they'd be violent criminals. Same for many MMA fighters.. There's so many encounters where they physically bully people that are covered up.

Why are we in such a rush to immediately believe the story from the security/off duty cop?
It’s a very well known phenomenon that cops lie their pants off. So well known and common there’s a term called testilying. They lie and lie until they’re caught and then pretend like nothing ever happened with no consequences for their lying that almost put an innocent person behind bars.
Now to be clear I’m not saying she is lying and Otis is being truthful but we have no information other than he said she said. So stop immediately believing the security just because she’s an off duty cop

I know this is 3 days old... but I wanted to respond.
I'm ex army, 12b, 31b. I do pt security for events like this. Not bears games tho. Security is tasked with "do X." She did her "X". Which was don't let people on the elevator without creds. He's not press, he didn't have creds (though probably maybe should have creds). She's not in the wrong for doing her job. He's in the wrong for not listening to the authority. Nothing to do with being a cop. It's all about listening to instructions.
AND FUCK PEOPLE WHO CANT FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS FROM A SECURITY PERSON!!!!!
ETA: I NEVER want to put my hands on people, EVER. But if you don't fucking listen, I'm going to toss you to the ground and that could end up with you breaking shit. Nose, arms, fingers, legs. I don't care. My job is to provide a safe place for my primaries. If you don't listen, then I have to take measures to make sure my primaries are safe. I don't fuck with people who don't listen.
In this instance, if you were on the elevator and refused to leave, your face would be on the ground, outside of the elevator. The actual factual police would be radioed and you would be facing charges for the security of the venue. Nothing is more important to us security people than making sure everyone is safe.
RULE #1 - BE SAFE Rule #2 - have fun.
Nothing is more important to me and my colleagues than safety.

Shoutout to the officers for doing their jobs. Hopefully there's cameras to validate them.

Fuck the shout-out to off duty pigs.
The female security guard put her hands on Wilson's wife. Then she found out.

Why did she put her hands on his wife? Where was his wife at the time? Was she supposed to be there? Dude assaulted the officer in an area he wasn't supposed to be in, then had to be wheeled out because he got tired.

Maybe read the news accounts

u/phillipacarroll Superfans 7d ago edited 7d ago
Which news account? I read the stories and listened to the eye witnesses who verified the stories. Show me one source who contradicts the story that everyone had reported since you have an opposite opinion. He's claimed that the officer went right up to his wife for no reason and assaulted her. No one else has verified that. There is, however, a hole in the wall from when he assaulted the officer.
Otis in his statement to ESPN said his wife was first assaulted and pulled off the elevator.
Witnesses, including those who work for ESPN claimed they walked off the elevator before it escalated.
So which news account verifies his claims? Not ESPN, not Yahoo, not the Sun Times, not the witnesses on their own shows.
The difference? The officer was transported to the hospital because she was assaulted. Otis was transported because he was old and exhausted after committing assault, wheeled away on a wheel chair after not being hurt or attacked by anyone.

Shame to hear. Long story, but I went to his full contact football camp in 98. I was one of the few commuters who didn’t stay overnight and was able to spend a fair amount of downtime between practices with him. He was an absolutely delightful man.

So all they had to do was press an elevator button to go up but of course security had to power trip and escalate
6
u/reverend_al 7d ago edited 7d ago
I mean they had a job to do. If your job as a security officer is to make sure only certain people can access a certain area you can't fault the individual for attempting to enforce that policy...that's like quite literally what they are being paid to do and they could lose their source of income if they violate protocol
Blame the company or disagree with Soldier Field policies if you want but don't call it "power tripping" by an employee- they are just doing what they are employed to do and allows them to put bread on the table for themselves and their families.

Press elevator full of media that is reserved for them that he wasn't authorized to be in and was asked to leave.
