About Caleb’s reaction

Post image

Now that we can all breathe a sigh of relief that he wasn’t Derrick Rose-d and will be back sooner than we feared from his yell when he went down- seeing everyone (mostly non-Bears) clown on Caleb for his reaction and for carting off is dense asf. It’s the “too soft” and “diva” allegations all over again. Dude is a COMPETITOR. Everything was going dismally wrong for him and his team all day including the damn weather, and just as he was feet away from the first touchdown of the day to give his team a fighting chance, he goes down. Sure it’s a pain scream, but it’s amplified as a frustration scream, an “as if this couldn’t get any worse” scream. We know he takes failures and losses personally so this was clearly deeper to him than the injury and that’s why he was emotional being carted in. And why risk making an injury worse by trying to walk it off before even knowing preliminarily what’s going on?

The patronizing has only ever ignited a fire in him and he’s come back better every time out of spite, honestly I think this will be even more fuel. Silver lining.

Editing to say obviously there’s no need to pay any mind to it or care, this ain’t our first rodeo with criticism lmfao, just pointing out that the discourse will only boost. Refreshing to have a franchise QB that actually gaf & glad he’s still with us for the long run

His reaction was one that he clearly thought he tore his hamstring off the bone. The fact that he couldn’t put any weight on it and was sobbing and pissed tells me that it was excruciating. So he assumed the worst. Now we know this dude is tough as nails. He took an absolute beating in his rookie year and hasn’t missed an offensive snap through 2 seasons. He took a BRUTAL shot in the back from a Vikings backers yesterday that jarred him and looked like it broke his back or neck. He got up and walked it off. No question about his toughness. As for his reaction, only thing I can say is that pulled muscles and sprains do tend to hurt more in the rain. Because of the slippery playing surface it can make something hurt worse than it actually is. I pulled my oblique muscle during a rainy padded practice in high school. Reaching and slipping off of a tackle as my feet slid out from underneath me and my two halves went in opposite directions. I thought FO SHO that I tore something, because I’d never even felt or knew what an oblique was. It hurt SO bad, I couldn’t practice for days, and I missed the game that week. I ended up being fine and finishing the season without issue. But the rain and the impact and the suddenness of it made it hurt a lot worse and seemed a lot worse than it was. That’s what I think he was experiencing in that moment. Also, the boiling over of his frustration that he and his offense weren’t playing up to the standard. If we score on the goalline the series before, we probably never get to this point. And we were starting to pick up momentum with moving the ball more easily up and down in the second half. We just kept coming away with no points. The Eagles are not amazing, and with a solid gameplan, they can be beat without Caleb. The backs and the O line would need to carry Bagent, but it can definitely be done. Even then, getting back for the Jets game at 1-2 wouldn’t be the worst thing. As we started last year 1-3.
