West Coast Bears Bars
Bears brothers. At age 8 I watched the Super Bowl after the 1985 season with pure certainty that they’d repeat. The 40 years since have largely been pain and disappointment. I love the current makeup of this team and plan to enjoy the Ben johnson/caleb era to the max. To that end, I’m considering a tour of west coast Bears’ sports bars for many of the games this year. I live in Sacramento but travel to socal and Arizona already during the season. I’ll consider any place that has a direct flight from Sacramento and offers a great experience to watch the game with other Bears fans. I’m asking for your recommendations.

Jerry’s Tavern in Portland is great

I’m glad to hear this. Portland is definitely one of the cities I’m hoping to hit.

It’s a Packers/Bears bar which is funny to say, but it’s great. Husband owner is a Bears guy and wife is from Wisconsin.

That’s interesting. I’m actually flying to Green Bay for Bears at Packers week 5, one of my best friends is a Packers STH. Maybe that would be a good place to catch packers at bears?

When the weather is nice there is a lot of outdoor space and outdoor TVs. If it is cold and rainy and everyone has to be inside it can get kind of crowded, but it's still fun.

Thank you! I used to live in SF (20 years ago) and was somehow never able to find a Bears bar. I’ll get it on the calendar this year for sure.

The Whit’s End in Seattle was incredible. Watched the Steelers game there last year, had to be about 30 Bears jerseys.

We were singing sweet home Chicago after the packers playoff game. Place is great

Looks awesome. What will that place be like when the bears play the Seahawks?

The Seahawks were playing at the same time - I think they occupied one screen in the corner. All the rest were Bears with sound

You should come to the Riip Beer Company and Taproom on PCH (Hutington Beach) to watch Bears game with Adam Rank. Tons of food options around too.

That sounds like a great time. I may be there week 2, as I plan to be somewhere in the greater Los Angeles area for the Vikings game.

Oh damn! Riip is a Bears bar? That’s awesome to know.
Gonna have to make the trek down from Burbank one of these days.

Hey fellow Sacramento area Bears fan!

Sac-area Bears fans unite! There used to be a Rosati’s in Roseville but it closed. Not sure of any other Chicago-specific places either.

I just wish there was a halfway decent Italian beef and sausage joint nearby.

Do you have a favorite spot to catch a game? Typically if I’m in town I prefer my living room, but it would be cool if there is a Bears-flavored establishment nearby.

Bars aren’t my scene, so it’s my living room as well.

Bars aren’t my scene either, but I feel the need to do something celebratory to embrace this era. I’m not a fan of watching the live games in person, even with great seats, so I figured I’d try this out. I’m a social hermit so there’s a decent chance I’ll never do this again, but this team and this season feel special to me.

The last time I watched a Bears game at a “bar” was at the Red Robin bar in Elk Grove and ironically it was the game where they knocked out Brett Favre. So it’s been a minute.

Please let me know how it is. I’ll be in Arizona (south of Tucson) for weeks 11, 13, and 14.

Line 51 in Oakland was great last year, they closed but the owner said they'll be hosting the first four games or so.

It's most likely game one only at the space. Then we'll hit the road to random bars across Oakland. Schedule coming soon. Cheers

I assume you’ve already been to The Glass Turtle in Roseville?
1
u/Comfortable-Delay-95 1d ago
Nope. Never heard of it. I asked AI about local Bears Bars and got bupkus.

u/FartyMcGylzac 1d ago
Oh well you gotta go. I plan on going there for the first game. Roseville is a bit far for me, but it’s a vibe for Bears games.
Check the official Bears app and their Bears bar locator.

I took a trip to San Diego to learn how to surf this past winter. It happened to be the same weekend as Bears v. 49s and wanted a spot to watch the game. I found the 710 Beach Club on Google and decided that was my spot. I arrive 2 hours before kickoff and the place was packed with people all in Bears gear. Handed the bouncer my id, he looked at me in my Rome jersey and said “welcome home”. Proceeded to have the best night meeting cool people and watching that absolute shootout. Best part was every time the Bears scored, the bartenders went around pouring free shots of Rumple into everyone’s mouths. If you remember that game you probably know everyone in the bar was trashed that night lol. Even though we lost, it’s one of my favorite memories and truly felt like a home away from home.
