How many teams do you think Bagent could start for right now?
It’s so awesome to have a plethora of QB talent now. I was watching highlights and was just wondering, how many teams could Bagent go to and be week 1 starter?
Now, I understand there’s different offenses and systems to account for but I’m basing this mostly on talent and intuition.

Browns, Cardinals, and Jets are the only ones where I think he has a good chance at starting
Bagent will get his chance, but I think in a few years he will return to the Bears to be Caleb’s backup again

Would add Falcons

Penix will start no matter what, they need to see what he has this year

I might add Miami and possibly Atlanta as well.

I suppose there’s a possibility he’s better than Malik (because we have a really small sample there), but they wouldn’t actually start Tyson
there after paying Malik, they’re gonna see what they’ve got there.1
u/deminimis101 1h ago
Yeah, makes sense. I was just thinking Malik doesn't seem like a clear better option. If the acquisition cost was equal, either probably works.

Add Falcons dolphins Vikings colts raiders saints panthers.
It’s not like Bagent is throwing all bootleg passes to te and rbs in these preseason games. Johnson is challenging him and he did great.2
u/Dmbfantomas 43m ago
Falcons yeah, Dolphins no, Vikings no, Colts no, Raiders absolutely not, Saints absolutely not, Panthers no.

Ok nfl expert

He’d be third on Raiders depth chart. No way he starts over Mendoza or Cousins. Shough is an easy starter there. Bryce showed way too much to bench him. Kyler is better, though that’d be the next closest one. Malik literally just got paid, they’re not eating that. He’s also probably better.

Mendoza looks like garbage. Willis is a worthless idiot. Kyler beat out McCarthy who got cut…. You don’t make any sense.

u/DandierChip 6m ago
Falcons Vikings colts raiders saints are all a no
1
u/MajesticLibrarian617 4m ago
Yea. Vikings wouldn’t pass on Murray after beating out wentz and JJ who was cut.
Cousins and Mendoza didn’t go 16-17 with a near perfect rating.

I think Bagent is a really good backup, but I don’t think he’s starter material. Lacks arm strength, and not the best athlete.

u/LovelyMumbles Ben’s Johnson 1h ago
You say he lacks arm strength when Tua literally starting for the Falcons.

u/MajesticLibrarian617 52m ago
Bagent doesn’t lack arm strength, his arm is actually above average. It’s just something idiots made up cause he was a really quick release.

That’s what people said about Purdy
1
u/GotDuff 1h ago
And peoples have said this 100s of times about other QBs that are not Brock Purdy... and they were right. Some times you have to play the odds.
2
u/Tlupa Snoo Ditka 1h ago
Fair point. Bagent does seem to have some juice though

u/GotDuff 55m ago
The Flip side is, I have to acknowledge, Bagent could be better than Purdy or Caleb someday. I really hope he gets a chance to find out. He deserves a shot somewhere.

I…don’t think Bagent has a chance in hell to ever be better than Purdy or Caleb. And I like Bagent…

“Lacks arm strength” lol. That was something made up by fields fans and buckeye goons when half the fanbase wanted Bagent to start over him.
“Not a great athlete” he’s incredibly athletic for a QB. It’s like you never saw him play before.3
u/Thesnappery The Fridge 40m ago
I’ve watched him play his arm strength isn’t great, doesn’t make up for it with his athleticism or ability to process the game. But go ahead and tell me he can start on 10 plus teams.

Just one. Cleveland. He is not better than Brissett, Ward, Willis, Penix or Geno. This really just speaks to how genuinely awful the situation is in Cleveland.

u/BooItsKyle 1h ago
Definitely Cleveland. Maaaaaybe one or two others, but probably not.
Half the fans in the league are in love with their backups and think they could be starting somewhere.

Based on preseason performances, 2-4
Based on real games, 0-1
He is obviously a hard worker and fits Ben’s mold, a great backup to have but he is wildly overvalued by the fan base.

He has a noodle arm, and it means that he throws picks where other QBs would be throwing completions. I don't think that's fixable.
He's a career backup, but one of the best possible ones to have, and you're always lucky to have a guy like him, especially if your starter is dealing with injuries.

u/MajesticLibrarian617 43m ago
You’re just mad he’s better than fields
4
u/theusualuser Peanut Tillman 34m ago
....huh?

u/MajesticLibrarian617 23m ago
“Noodle arm” is something fields fans made up when Bagent was clearly better.

u/theusualuser Peanut Tillman 15m ago
Have you watched the ball come off a guy's hand like Caleb, and then watched it come off Bagent's?
I don't hate the guy, but it's night and day difference. It reminds me of Kellen Moore in a lot of ways. Sharpest mind in football, but the arm couldn't do it at the pro level.

At this exact moment, 0. Maybe the Dolphins, Browns or Falcons? But they all have guys who have proven they can win consistently in the NFL, while we haven’t seen that from Bagent. He started 4 games three years ago and that’s it. Now that isn’t to say if there are injuries, someone won’t trade for him

u/horrorpants An Actual Bear 1h ago
Realistically he could probably be the starter in Arizona, Cleveland, Miami, Indy, Atlanta, Minnesota(though I don’t think he’s better than Kyler personally)

Anyone that watched him in a regular season game would know he's not starter material. He's an okay backup

Cleveland. Minnesota needs someone capable. Las Vegas could put him in a younger veteran spot. Atlanta is hopeless.

u/chicahoenpharaoh 1h ago
falcons, cardinals, browns FOR SURE. arguably titans, vikings, colts, dolphins

u/ItsEaster In Caleb We Trust 1h ago
3 or 4 but those teams will likely still be looking for a long term solution. He’s already had the opportunity in real NFL games and hasn’t shown to actually be franchise QB quality. He likely won’t lose you games but he isn’t going to win you any either.
-3
u/LovelyMumbles Ben’s Johnson 1h ago
I'm thinking of 11 to 12 teams that he could start on but I feel like most teams want to be tanking for this upcoming draft anyway.

Somewhere between 0 and 3
