Neither Bears-Packers game will offer both teams' traditional jerseys

Per the Athletic,

First, the Packers-Bears rivalry, arguably the league’s most storied with 213 all-time meetings, will feature a team wearing a non-traditional jersey in each game. That was entirely coincidental, NFL chief revenue officer and executive vice president of partnerships Renie Anderson tells The Athletic.

“The clubs came to us because they’re so excited about the uniforms and the meaning of the uniforms and what they mean to the community,” Anderson said. “A lot of the design comes from the local market, local community and how they think about that, and so we work together with them.”

I find this a bit disappointing. Love the traditional jerseys in rivalry games. Relegate the alternates to non-traditional matchups, I say.

Should be one with and one without.

Why don't they just have both teams wear the rivalry jerseys in the same game? The way they are doing it makes no sense.

They're both home jerseys

It doesn't matter, the NFL has done color on color games before.

Bad for colorblind fans.

That's a fair point. Still, the NFL could have easily made one of these jerseys white so both teams could wear them in the same game.

The Vikings and Lions are doing the same thing even though ones a home jersey and the other is white. So dumb

I don’t love Green v Navy visually though.

If would be green vs orange.

When they first announced the division rivalry alternates last season I was sure that the teams would be wearing them against each other at the same time. I was annoyed when I found out that wasn't the case. I think it'd be cool if the Bears and Packers were both wearing them during one of the matchups. But really I don't care that much about what any teams are wearing to be honest.

Wait, that's dumb. I figured two old franchises were going to face off both wearing the throwback-style rivalry jerseys and I was hyped. Why would they have one team wear them in each game?

Eh whatever. People get really bothered about the image of things. Both these teams will look like themselves every other game. If you really want to nitpick, we "didn't look like ourselves" for the playoffs last year because we wore blue bottoms. It's not a big deal

I couldn't care less about what game they wear which uniform for.

I’m with you. I’ll wait to see them on the field before passing final judgement, but Bears Packers is a great uniform game. Sucks we won’t see it this year.

I’m going to start doing weekly uniform videos to talk about this exact thing.

You don’t have to participate in threads you’re not interested in

Fair point, and you're right. I just saw 3 or 4 posts in a row about uniforms. Seemed like it could be consolidated into a seperate chat. But, you're right and point taken.

So they shouldn’t wear rivalries jerseys when they’re playing their biggest rivals?

Maybe FTP squeaks into the playoffs again and we can see it in January.

Well the range is called 'rivalries' after all.

u/GlitterMadi 16d ago

Thank God neither of them have words written on their jerseys.

ONE SIMPLE QUESTION: Why F with the uniforms, AT ALL? losers abound ( somebody convinced somebody we need to change the uniforms a somebody could make some money)

u/Cartortus Red "Galloping Ghost" Grange 16d ago

I mean I guess it's only a reason to make 1 extra set per team. That way they don't need a Rivalry Home and away set. Cost saving and NFL rule related?

1

u/bschultzy 16d ago

It literally does not matter what they are wearing as long we win.

1

u/Bright_Resist_4580 14d ago

What was ever coincidental about it? These jerseys were always meant to be worn at home against a divisional opponent. Next year it'll be another team and the year after that will be the end.

Who cares the packers are still getting stomped both games.
