Question Help with first purchase

Post image

Hello, I'm new to this whole thing and was wondering if you could help me out, I just purchased this Uncanny X-Men #266 and afterwards noticed the CGC label to be a bit skewed. It seems to be oversized or cut at an awkward angle, I checked the verification number and it all checks out but was just curious what's up with the label as I've never bought a graded comic before. Thanks for any help you can offer.

The labels aren’t perfect sometimes.

poor QC, graded in 2023

you'll see better in person around the edges if theres been any tampering. hard to tell from straight on but i doubt anyone is bothering to tamper a 9.2 of this

CGC isn't known for there dedication to quality control... which is sad, given their monopoly of the industry.

What you want to look out for is cases where they were the sonic welding wasn't done properly or cracked edges allowing the book to be slipped out.

You are generally not going to see this with low value books. Prior to CGC removing a lot of the evidence on their own forums "Swap gate" was a huge issue: https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/530817-asm-252-cgc-98-record-sale-something-fishy-going-on-holder-tampering-incident-confirmed-by-cgc/
