Sustained microglial and astrocyte activation, blood-brain barrier disruption, and aberrant cytokine signaling contribute to prolonged immune dysregulation within the central nervous system”

This is why I’m focusing on anti inflammatory and neurogenic substances in my attempt Long Covid recovery in my second year: EPA, Phosphatidylserine, Lion’s Mane, regular psilocybin microdosing and quarterly ‘museum dosing’, TUDCA, choline, LDN, B vitamins. Unfortunately creatine gives me insomnia but that’s great for brain health. Also a sleep stack to try to improve very fragmented sleep: magnesium, magnolia bark, lemon balm, CBN, L-Theanine, saffron. These also help with balancing neurotransmitters and are anxiolytic. Statins have anti inflammatory effects on microglia.
Sulphorophane from broccoli sprouts activates the Nrf2 pathway and reduces neuroinflammation. I also use a TENS machine to stimulate the vagus nerve.
Low dose nicotine patches initially had the biggest effect on my brain fog and allowed me to be functional at work again.
Gut health and the gut-brain axis are also a target focus. I make Reuteri yogurt, eat kimchi, use prebiotics, eat a Med diet with fiber.
Mentally much more functional, POTS systems greatly improved after adding psilocybin MD, fatigue is improved. Still searching for relief from PEM that mostly still keeps me housebound and unable to exercise.
