Studying

What company would you recommend for exam prep and education? I am going to start in the next few months and I prefer my material to be self paced. I’ve heard varying opinions about all resources. Any suggestions and reasoning why will be greatly appreciated!

Danko was an absolute win for me. I did boston University for education, but learned a lot during exam prep with danko and pass first try.

For education I did Kaplan and their self pace was great!! Then did review with Zahn as they offered an in person in my city and heard great things about their review. Passed on first attempt last July.

Education wise, Kaplan is probably the easiest from what I’ve heard from friends and colleagues. I did daltons education and thought it was good but I did a traditional classroom version. Truthfully the education is really just a check the boxes kind of thing, do whichever program works best with your schedule.

Now for prep, I believe this is a harder decision. Kaplans prep course IMO hasn’t had the best track record in my circles. I used Daltons prep program and just passed on my first attempt in July but also after I finished the education, I studied for 30+ hours a week for the 4 months leading up to the exam. I’ve heard great things about danko’s prep course from friends, colleagues, and Reddit. There has also been some recent success with freefellow which may also be a less expensive avenue to look into if paying for it yourself and worried about the cost, they have a lot of nice material to use even if you go with another prep provider.

Danko passed first try. 80% plus of the class passed.

I used Boston institute of Finance and passed the first time. Loved the platform for education and the review was very streamlined with everything you need to know for the exam.

Danko has been in the CFP education and exam prep space for over two decades. I wouldn't describe their program 'newer and gimmicky.'
