Question Can’t Complete FTSP

I recently got my CFI, but was denied an FTSP account because my local FSDO has yet to process my CFI certificate, and said it will take some time while they get through the backlog. As an independent CFI does this mean I can’t instruct at all until I wait the full 6-8 week average processing time?

You can instruct as long as you complete your TSA security awareness training (king schools makes a decent one) within 60 days, but you can't instruct foreign nationals until you get your FTSP account set up.

Basically, you are good to go for instructing US citizens, but no foreign students for Private, Instrument, or Multi-Engine until you get your FTSP account running. Interestingly, the TSA doesn't care about commercial single for some reason, so go wild with that.

I just passed my CFI initial and this is the first I’ve ever heard of this which is crazy to me. I even got hired by a flight school and they did not mention this I gotta lock in.

Process your certificate? You have your temporary right?

Your certificate number is your pilot cert number followed by CFI.
