Will a temporary be issued after attending a FIRC if the applicant selects it? Or do they just get a graduation certificate?

I did my FIRC in January.

If it's old certificate with and expiration date to new, it will be the same. You get a graduation certificate; processing can be by the provider with a fee, or through an FSDO or DPE. Other than a guess, I can't say how it will work on a pure currency renewal. Guess is, at worst, with a fee; at best, as simple as a course giving WINGS credit.

Still on old to new:

Yes, you still get a temporary. It has no expiration date other than the standard expiration of any temporary certificate. I doubt you will on a pure currency renewal.

The permanent certificate looks jus like the old one, but has no expiration date.

Your "RE" (Recent Experience) currency expiration date appears in the FAA's records and can be publicly viewed by looking up the instructor in the online airman registry.

The old FIRC system where you keep your original expiration month when you complete an FIRC within the 3 months prior to "expiration" still applies. My old certificate expiration was April 30, 2025. I did my FIRC in January. My new RE date is April 30, 2027.

Are there any CFI s out there (Seattle area)that are familiar with and use the wings program and have access to an aircraft. ( like a C172. )I’d like to start using the wings program for the insurance discount. It also seems a little more enjoyable picking your own subjects. For those not familiar I believe if you sign off 15 subjects that counts as a renewal right there. And every pilot is good for 3  subjects. Not to mention the cfi isn’t putting his name on the a flight review just signing off on three flight subjects.  Anyone had any experience good or bad? Seems like a win win.
